Absolutely diabolical!! web site says wifi is free but it's $5 to sign up then $2 per day, you have to pay $4 for bed linen which is full of stains and have to make your bed yourself, which also isn't mentioned on website. Then we got overcharged for our beds/room. Loads of hidden charges. Air con is too old... More

So after 10 months of travelling and staying many different hostels none of them have left me with the memories and friends I got at this place... I'm shocked at the bad reviews and felt it was right for me to write a review for the place I lived in and called home for 3 months. Okay so the rooms... More

It's cheap, it's cheerful and it's decent. The rooms are not 5 class, but what should backpackers expect? I thought they were ok to be fair. The kitchen is decent and big so loads of people can get in. The staff are brilliant. Friendly and nice people. They make you feel welcome right from the off. It may not look... More

When our bus pulled outside the hostel my first thought was OMG look at the state of this place. Walking into check in, was very clustered with stuff everywhere however the staff seemed very friendly. Took quite a while to check in but probably because there was a group of us. Got to the room, very basic however had no... More

I booked into asylum for 3 days and ended up staying for just over 3 weeks. I was traveling alone and the staff made me extremely welcome I made loads of friends on my first night with their $4 all you can eat barbecue that brings the whole hostel together. I went on snorkelling tours through their help and discount... More

ok so the kitchen cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired the rooms are nowhere near 5* but that's missing the point! if you are staying here the staff are helpful and easily approachable the whole hostel vibe is to make friends and party they arrange a weekly pub crawl which if you are travelling alone and want to get... Nice and friendly staff. Clean room and bathrooms. Shared kitchen was often full so sometimes hard to get a free pan to cook with but it was great location and good value for money in comparison with other places. Bbq was nice too.

This was easily the worst hostel I subjected myself to along the East Coast of Australia. It was dirty, noisy, poorly maintained and run very poorly. Thankfully there are plenty of better hostels elsewhere.

Very dingy and dirty everywhere. Room looked like a prison cell. Overall image looks like it's been abandoned. Small charges for absolutely everything, that's why it's cheap. Staff look like they haven't slept for weeks.
