We booked and stayed for one night. The 10 bed dorms are small and cramped leaving loads of mess and unpleasant smells. Belongings were thrown all over the floor in the room and it looked as if a bomb had gone off. People in the room were hanging their dirty washing from the beds leaving a disgusting stench lingering in... More

Booked 2 nights at this hostel and ended up staying for 7! The rooms are a little cramped but for the brilliant prices of £11 a night, we couldn't of asked for anything better. Upon arrival we were told we got a free upgrade to a 6 bed rather than 8 bed which was fine, ended up booking all our... More

This place is fantastic! If you are a backpacker looking for a job it is essential that you apply for the work exchange program and they will set you up with some work around the hostel to cover the cost of your bunk and it includes free breakfast+dinners. The front desk can also help you find a real job. I... More

I spent 2 nights at the Serpent, the people there were amazing and so helpful and looked after me very well. The location is beautiful only 5mins drive to and from the airport such a laid back place. The meals are big and so cheap, I met and mingled with so many people such a happy and hip atmosphere and... More

I wouldn't recommend staying here if you are in cairns. Although it is very cheap, it is a 40 minute walk to get anywhere in the city. Which seems ok in theory but it's a dull walk and it's even that far to the nearest shops, let alone night out. Also the cleaners don't seem to do the rooms properly... More

Was here roughly two weeks due to tour dates. Not the worst hostel for a quick visit. But unless you enjoy a drink every night and not a chilled one with a dvd in the 'social area' then this isnt for you. But overall very nice to meet people!! Music off at 12 which is okay, pool isnt great, rooms... More

My partner and I spent a whole week on this hostel. We didn't get a great start since we arrived early in the morning (5 am) and we were promised to get the room key at 7 am. When we asked the receptionist for the room key she told us that the check in weren't until 1 pm. When we... More

Cairns is an expensive city to find a hotel bed in, so we chose to book a room with a private bathroom at Nomads. When entering the reception, the establishment has a nice cool/vibrant/international atmosphere. Unfortunately this atmosphere isn't kept in the design of the room, which most of all felt like an 'upscale prison'. Steel frame beds, bare concrete... More

Rooms extremely basic (private double was like a prison cell, just a bed) and no curtain on the window. We asked for this to be fixed but were told that no rooms had curtains (after speaking to other guests we found out this wasn't true). Reception staff were useless! Whole place very noisy, bring earplugs if you want to sleep... More

The communal areas in itself are fine, the room is very basic with no extra's but that's to expect for the price (cheap) so that's fine. The thing that really really bothered me was that the whole place is very noisy. Which is because the walls are very thin, the stairwell has a great acoustic and there is a bar... More
