This resort hotel has been around for a while and I have been to two seminars here in the last decade. The Colonial Club has 350 rooms, two pools, a poolside bar, games room and conference centre. I had breakfast, dinner, drinks and conference lunch there this trip. My overall impression was one of friendly staff trying hard to provide... More

The Colonial has been around a long time. Staff are fantastic. The rooms could really do with a refurbish. But for the budget traveler who just wants somewhere to sleep after full days of sight seeing. This is the place to stay. Compared to the rest of Cairns, reasonable rates.

We had a pleasant room with a good shower. I enjoyed tge extensive tropical gardens and swimming pool gave it a nice resort atmosphere. Staff very friendly and helpful. Tbone Tuesday was a hit with hubby. Pricing is low and we knew it wouldn't be real flash. Very happy it was clean and quiet tho. Glad we had a car... More

Everything was old and not well maintained. TV didn't work, uncomfortable beds and the worst pillows (seemed like they hadn't been replaced in a LONG time). Noisy as well. No such thing as a Sunday sleep in. Other guests were up from 5am and we could hear our neighbours' conversation not to mention other guests enjoying the pool etc. terrible... More

First, let me say that the staff at this hotel is stellar. Everyone seemed genuinely friendly and eager to make our stay memorable. We arrived early, but we only had to wait about 20 minutes to get into our room. When we got to the room, there was a letter on the counter wishing me a happy 40th birthday with... More

Resort is in desperate need of an upgrade. Plumbing leaked and toilet kept flushing. From a kids perspective - games room was closed at odd hours and the movie channel wouldn't connect. The restaurant food was very average, and other restaurant options are not nearby. Good swimming pools - but resort needs attention.

My family had a comfortable 2day stay at d cairns colonial club. The front reception were professional yet friendly and patiently directed us around d resort with maps , breakfast times, info reg bus shuttle to d city centre. D rooms alloted to us were renovated ones I guess because it was very clean and v didn't find anything wanting.... More

This place was the ONLY hotel I could find that allowed me to book a "Day Room" during a 13 hour layover. The staff were so helpful even before I got there, answering all my emails and questions and letting me book a room via email. It was such a relief that after an 8 hour flight we had somewhere... Old rooms, old beds, old equipment....everything was old and not properly maintained. Restaurant was clearly understaffed (and the present staff seemed not to care), service and food were low quality with not properly prepared meals and empty salad bar. Disorganised floor staff and poorly prepared low qualityy meals made the night not worth for both experience and money.Reception staff seemed... More

We have stayed here about seven or eight times. The time before this was six years ago. Everything has been down graded apart from the price. No more food at the pool, no spa at the poolside, food at the restaurant very poor. Resort bus used to be free. Won't stay there again, used to be our favourite hotel in... More
