Decent resort, but not close to anything. Better off staying closer to city center on the water. We stayed here only one night because the Mike Ball Dive trip picked us up here incredibly early and we didn't want to hassle with getting here from another hotel. Also, there is a soccer academy next door, so there were tons of... more

We had to buy a mozzie zapper as soon as we arrived. The minute we opened our hotel room, we were greeted with a dozen mozzies, I know it is the tropics but we did not expect their presence in our room. The furnishings and decor around the whole place look tired, although the staff were quite friendly and helpful... more

We choose the Cairns Colonial Club Resort through the Trailfinders Brochure. We stayed there for 4 nights and I have to say we were very glad we did. The resort is big and the rooms are clean. The onsite snack bar is ideal and the breakfast buffet is a good value. Coaches that take you on daytrips to Karanda and... more

We had mixed feelings about the Cairns Colonial Club Resort. Our room was good, the grounds and gardens were beautiful, the facilities were all there but the place just lacked atmosphere. Staff were friendly and helpful but everyone seemed overworked. We found that we always seemed to be kept waiting a bit too long for everything and that some things... more

We found this hotel to be an excellent base from which to explore Cairns and the surrounding region. It's just a few minutes by free shuttle from the airport, yet not troubled by aircraft noise. The staff were unusually helpful and friendly, which more than compensated for the absence of glitz and slightly tired decor. The buffet breakfast, poolside lunch... more

That about sums it up. I would only stay at this hotel for convenience to the airport. Period. In the USA, it would be equivalent to a 2.5 star hotel. I stayed in one of the refurbished rooms--I had noted on tripadvisor that unreburbished had a lot of complaints. Most of the resort seems to be one story little buildings.... more

We stayed here for one night, we got a good price so I won't go hard on it. Check in staff very nice, lots of information in the reception with a nice little shop selling everything from sweets to postcards to beach towels. Rooms are old and smell a bit musty, windows were dirty. Bathrooms are small and dark. Nice... more

We loved the colonial club in cairns. It was conveniently located and they provided a city bus into town throughout the day. Our room was located near the reception area, pool, restaurant, and bar. It was a bit noisy in the early mornings (around 3 am) because of suitcases rolling by - I asked about this and think there are... more
