That about sums it up. I would only stay at this hotel for convenience to the airport. Period. In the USA, it would be equivalent to a 2.5 star hotel. I stayed in one of the refurbished rooms--I had noted on tripadvisor that unreburbished had a lot of complaints. Most of the resort seems to be one story little buildings.... more

We stayed here for one night, we got a good price so I won't go hard on it. Check in staff very nice, lots of information in the reception with a nice little shop selling everything from sweets to postcards to beach towels. Rooms are old and smell a bit musty, windows were dirty. Bathrooms are small and dark. Nice... more

We loved the colonial club in cairns. It was conveniently located and they provided a city bus into town throughout the day. Our room was located near the reception area, pool, restaurant, and bar. It was a bit noisy in the early mornings (around 3 am) because of suitcases rolling by - I asked about this and think there are... more

Excellent shuttle service to and from the airport. We arrived very late after flight delays and the driver was there to collect us. Checked in very efficiently and taken to our room - really appreciated their kindness as we had been awake for a very long time. Throughout our stay the front desk staff were all really helpful. The room... more

We stayed in a Colonial Room for a special deal at $50/night, minimum 2 nights. The rooms were described as "unrefurbished" at the time, which is exactly what they were. Carpets and walls were stained, and did not have a clean feel to it, but it was spacious. There was also a problem with ants; they infested our empty cups... more

We were forced to stay at this hotel after Quantas cancelled our flight. Good: Checkin was easy, Restaurant The Homestead had excellent food and pretty good value with their gourmet soup/salad and dessert buffet Bad: * Ants all over room, on every surface * Room felt unclean, old and dumpy * Poor air conditioning * Put us in a room... more
