This was a depressing start to a family holiday. The room was tired and shabby and not really very clean. Rubbish and old socks under one of the beds. Our stay at the gateway was part of a very cheap airline package. The hotel is situated on the south side of Cairns a fair way out of the city and a twenty dollar cab ride to get there. This is NOT a resort. It's a motel with a really cool pool and a LOT of vegitation on the property.
