Discovery Cairns' price quality ratio is reasonable (our twin room 207 euros for 3 nights). The hotel is ideal for those who participate in local excursions, such as trips to the coral reefs and Kuranda. We would have liked a more central location. The hotel has no restaurant and breakfast service, but there are ethnic eateries close to it. The... More

This hotel is in a good location, but the decor is very outdated. This is a good place to base yourself if you are out and about, or are doing Tropical North Queensland on a budget. Would be nice if the twin room had king singles rather than just singles, but all in all, not a bad budget hotel.

I found the hotel on my recent trip to cairns to be very nice. The pools were both good, the room always cleaned well and the staff were great! Even the gardener, as I spoke to him for a bit, asking him about the plants that had been planted and commenting on how they look wonderful. I suppose the only... More

Overall good stay...clean and comfortable...however massive sliding doors across the front of the room make it feel a bit as if you are on display all the time! Doors also had a very flimsy lock which didn't make the room too secure...aircon alsoset at 22 and couldnt be changed

Stayed for 2 nights in a superior room before a trip and returned to a standard. The first room was large and very comfortable with terrace and chairs overlooking the pool. Standard room was fairly basic but clean and O.K. for a couple of nights. No balcony, what you may call standard motel type acommodation, tea & coffee facilties &... More

Stayed 2 nights here in a downstairs room - manager kindly changed us from an upstairs room due to an issue with steps. Room was comfortable and air-conditioned, good shower, coffee & tea making facilities, good beds, parking outside unit. Hard to read in the room due to low light, and the bed lights didn't help much. Front office had... More

This hotel is in the style of a motel. The rooms was quite large. It had shower, TV, fridge, tea making facilities and what can could be described as a small kitchenette area. The room was a little dated but that wasn't a problem for me. Nearby there was a laundry area which was low cost and very convenient. Reception... More

We stayed 8 nights during August/September 2014 and found the Discovery Cairns to be a very good budget hotel. Upon arrival our room was upgraded to a Superior Room at no extra cost. The room was clean and tidy and was quite large. The shower, TV, aircon, etc. all worked well and the room was serviced each day. Hotel staff... More

This Hotel is more a Motel, as well as Hotel. My room was very large and comfortable, a lounge area, large bedroom area, television, lots of cupboard space, refrigerator, bathroom. There are 2 pools, quite small but I saw people using them. There is a Travel Agent at the front, 183 Lake Street, which is useful for arrangement of tours... More
