We arrived after a quick shuttle from the airport and check in was no problem. The front desk staff were helpful throughout the stay, so that was good. The room was...not great at all. It was very basic and very outdated. There were cracks everywhere, missing paint, broken tiles and was generally shabby. However, the beds and pillows were good,... more

It's a nice family hotel just a few minutes walk from the Esplanade, about 15 minutes walk from the center of Cairns and near the airport. The hotel has two nice swimming pools and I must mention that there are also barbeque areas available. There is a laundry and a parking place. The rooms are big with a balcony...our room... more

We used the Tropical Queenslander as our meeting spot to join up with our daughter. Since she arrived first, they placed her in a smaller room. The room was clean, and was actually big enough for the three of us. The staff was helpful in moving her to a bigger room the day we arrived, as well as getting her... more

we stayed here at the beginning and again at the end of our holiday the first time we were in a dark corner room with a bed that had springs poking out of it. we both slept in the single beds which were slightly better. Our children on the first visit were in an ajoining room but on our 2nd... more

This hotel looks great in the photos and maybe some of the rooms look like the photos but ours did not. Our room was in the corner with horrible beds, 1 little window in the bathroom, and mould in the bathroom. Thankfully we were there only for 1 night. more

We stayed here one night (actually about four hours!!) in May 2007. We arrived really late (11:30 p.m.) and had to call the after hours attendant to get our key from the safe located on the side of the building. It was seamless and really easy, which was nice. The room, although large, leaves much to be desired. The bathroom... more

We stayed just a single night. The room was spacious and came complete with a small fridge and a balcony overlooking the small pool. The complex actually has 2 pools, but the other is by the road. They provide a full breakfast at a cost that smelled nice even though we did not partake. The hotel is on a side... more

Stayed here for 1 night in Nov 06, was a bit out of the centre of cairns, and has a landing flight path over it, but not too noisy. Room was big, but bath was tiny, (about 3 foot!!!) I did sit in it for comedy value though. Nearby Balinese restaurant was very nice, about 5 mins walk towards Cairns... more

If you are looking for a well-priced, average motel, then Tropical Queenslander is perfect. The location is a 20 minute walk to downtown Cairns and the marina, and a 10 minute drive from the airport. The room was clean and spacious. This motel has 2 small pools, however no restaurant nor internet access. You have to walk 5 minutes down... more

Stayed here for 2 nights in January. The rooms were a good size and clean although the bathroom did seem to be getting a bit dated. The room was equipped like a little apartment with a microwave, fridge, hot plate etc. The only problems with the room was that the cupboard was very musty, but generally the room was fine.... more
