We booked 6 nights at this hostel and then read the reviews and thought "maybe the reviews were exagerating"... well, NO!... This Hostel SUCKS! forget about sleeping at all! it has the worst eco as it is an old building and it is imposible to sleep (even with ear plugs, that's how bad it is). The rooms are OK, small... It is so handy being on the Esplanade and just in front of the Lagoon. The staff are friendly and willing to help out. We ended up booking most of our East coast activities and the Greyhound here, as the travel staff were exceptionally helpful but not pushy and as a result we got lots of discounts and bonuses and... All I can say is the 4/5 star reviews on here are deluded! Like a prison, no plugs anywhere to charge my phone or dry my hair, no air con or windows in the sweaty rooms, unfriendly staff, disorganised, disgusting kitchen and showers! Don't do it people!!

Backpackers hell! Everything is dirty, you feel like in jail. Small windows (there are also rooms without windows), not a single plug in the sleeping room. Nothing to store your stuff and no chancr to store some valuables for free. Matrasses are horror, metall things standing out so that you barely can sleep and in top the staff is liaing.... More

This hostel was in a prime location with great views, Straight access to the lagoon which is one of the citys main attractions. We had a great double room with our own fridge AC and fan. The facilities were cleaned routinely. The hostel rates were cheaper then any other hostel in cairns in such a prime location. The staff were... More

Was pretty annoyed after paying for 6nights here only to find my room of 8 beds with not one plug socket. Complained ti reception and its due to it being an old building. Electrician perhaps. Anyway I charged my room in the extremely sweaty lounge. You can smell the sweat from the stinky sticky sofas. None of the corridors are... More

We booked for four nights as you get a nights stay free. I would rather pay extra somewhere else. The double room is like a cell with no window, we both had marks every morning from the springs in the mattress poking up. The layout is like a prison and if you sneeze, everyone know about it. People come in... More

Noisy, smelly little dark rooms with a bed and that's it. Bathrooms are not really tidy but you get used to it. Kitchen is all right but no real place to sit and eat (the balcony is as well really dirty). The staff takes their time so be sure to bring a lot with you.

Rooms are literally like prision cell which was a common joke between guests. Grey, shabby and not the cleanest by a long way. On arrival we got key to our 4Bed dorm three floors up when we opened door the room was already occupied with people asleep inside. Second room had spare bed, cigarette butts chewing gum stuck to beds and... More
