As opposed to Base Central (just a few blocks away), this base felt a lot cleaner and friendlier. The room I stayed in was a really comfortable size and was cleaned every day. The kitchen was a little small but cleaned regularly. Nice friendly and helpful staff, a lot of them working for accommodation, which meant they would not just... More

Originally planned to stay for 2 nights but ended up extending to 7. The hostel itself is nothing to shout out about, but if your just looking for some cheap accommodation then it's great. It has more of a hotel feel to it. It's in a good location - right in the CBD surrounded by bars, cafés, restaurants and shops,... More

My friend and I stayed here for four days while backpacking through Australia, the hostel was very good. It smelled a little like urine in the hallways, but that is the only negative thing I have to say about this hostel. Other than that, the service was excellent! I strongly recommend this place.

Really friendly and helpful staff, clean double room that was spacious, nice facilities to eat/cook/relax in. Hostel is set just off the main thoroughfare which was nice because it didn't get too loud but is still a very close walk to different bars/restaurants/woolies and other shops. Would definitely stay there again

I was there for 2 nights. The staff were very welcoming from the start, I was checking in a little early but they let me into the kitchen to make lunch while I waited for my room to be ready. My room was clean and it was quiet at night. The second night I had heat pumping into my room... More

It was a 20-25 minute walk with my backpack and everything from the greyhound station. When I got here the front desk lady was pretty snooty and seemed irritated with me. Asked her what is the best things to do around brisbane the next couple days and only mentioned a lagoon, when it turned out there was a huge street... More

We booked a double room for 4 nights at the base Brisbane embassy.. The corridors and lift had a 'funny smell' which was a big turn off at first. The double room is quite spacious but the shower wasn't working properly and nobody did anything about it, although the reception staff was friendly enough. The location is defo the biggest... More

We were arriving late to the hostel and was told by staff there would be no one at Base Embassy to check us in, so we would have to go to Base Central to check in, then return to Base Embassy. So we dragged all our luggage to Base Central only to be told that there was someone at Base... More

I've only been travelling for 6 weeks and this is by far the worst hostel I've stayed in. I should have known that this wasn't going to be a nice place because the guy we spoke to when booking was rude and unhelpful. As soon as you walk in the smell of sweat and stale ale hits you, the guy... More

As soon as you left reception this place stank. There was a foul smell of stale smoke, sweat and booze throughout the hostel. We've been travelling 7 months and have been through India and south east Asia. This was the worst place we've been to. The kitchen was dirty and smelly, as were the bathrooms. Both had rubbish on the... More
