The problem with the Banyan View Lodge is that it's not good for backpackers. In my room there were long-termers who, of course, had their things all around the whole room. Apart from them, most of the people were about 40-something years old. The atmosphere was pretty poor. The good things are: price and friendly staff, A/C in the room

I strongly advise to request a room facing the backside. Didn't really sleep very well at nights because of so much noise from the street coming in. Bathrooms and kitchen alright, rooms as well, everything a bit run-down though. Needs quite a couple of touch-ups here and there but overall in an okay condition. Air/con and fridge in every room,... This hostel/lodge is located just outside of city center. About 5/10 minutes walk to the city center and all the pubs and clubs, so nice and quiet. The park and sea view are just minutes walk. I stayed in 4bed dorm. Rooms were ok and equipped with airco and fan and fridge. On every level are toilets and showers located.... More

This is a very average hostel which caters more for the 40+ demographic. We unfortunately were unaware of this upon booking. The hostel is a bit further down Mitchell Street than the rest of the hostels but it's not too out of the way. We had booked a 3 bed dorm which when we got to there was already a... More

I don't think you can beat this place for EVERTHING. Price, friendliness, facilities and very central to everything. Sorry, but complaining about a pink exterior???? Enough said on that. Rules and regulations are there for the comfort and security of everyone, keeps the riff raff in line. We were more than impressed with everything about our stay. Will most definately... More

The first thing you see is the Pepto-Bismol pink exterior of the building & it doesn't get any less 'odd' once you go inside. I'll start with the positives - Good location, A/C in our room, very cheap the 6-dorm girls room only $23 a night, fridge in our room, 2 free computers to use, pool out back & 2... More

There must be better options in Darwin. To start with, the building is a prison-like cinder block building, with a steel bar security gate. Then, you are bombarded with signs about all of the rules & regulations. I understand they are worried about security, but it still seems a little bit of overkill. And, in spite of security features, there... More

My first experience of Banyan View Lodge was the bright pink exterior of the building. It was definitely not hard to spot! The lodge provides a pleasant place to stay with a lovely garden and swimming pool. However, there are a lot of negative aspects to it. Firstly, we were told that we had to pay a $25 key deposit... I stayed at Banyan View Logde for one night in a single room on a womens floor only with view to the graden and pool. The location is alright about 5 minutes from the main center of Darwin. So it's away from all the noice. The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was okay with a fridge, tabel and... More

I stayed here for a few nights while I was traveling in Darwin. Firstly the rooms were so affordable for a 3 share. I was lucky enough to have only one another person in the room. The bathroom/showers were always clean as well as the lodge. I had a few issues as I got into Darwin quite late and there... More
