I chose this hostel because I wanted a single room at a budget price - it was a good choice. We stayed there for a few nights and enjoyed it! Clean bathrooms, clean kitchen and nice rooms with free towels, tea, coffee and cockies. Paid $110 per night for a room that was half the size of a small room! Had to clean shower recess of mould before i could use it. No tv reception even when generously given 'rabbit ears' to rectify the problem?? Totally not like the brouchue or the internet pictures ( maybe when it was new?) sugestion to send all... more

Just a quick speal, I've had a quick month long working holiday in Darwin, came from Perth and a friend of mine came to visit for two nights and found Banyan Lodge on the internet and found it appealing due to its cheapish rates, $85 per night for a twin room with shared bathroom facilities. We stayed here for a total of 8 nights, two families with teenage children. The rooms were basically clean, however the air conditioning was poor and staff not forthcoming with assistance. One of the Dads ended up dismantling the unit and cleaning it himself. Having just read the other reviews, we too found the staff appalling in service and attitude.....Verging... more

I had a very bad time at this lodge especially with the staff. They were grumpy most of the time and even lost their temper at me when i stayed behind for awhile, in the lodge after checking out. I am dissapointed by their bad temper and unfriendly service. more
