Ugly on the outside and the inside, extra charges for absolutely everything that is locked behind steel grilles (cutlery, coffee cups etc), run down, lights out at 10pm and a peculiar clientele give this place the aura of a prison. I personally was attacked by another guest for the crime of sitting in the common room after lights out. Inconsistent... More

I wasn't a big fan of this place. Firstly, the good parts. The staff were all very friendly and welcoming (worthy of an extra star in the review), and the location was fairly central, with a bus stop outside for those hard to reach places. Apart from that though, things were lacking a great deal. No atmosphere, interiors were very... More

The pictures online look very misleading: the "pool" is 2 square meters, the "spa" is the size of a bidet. A lot of creepy, old, drunk people. Almost no backpackers around. The common area are completely useless and uncomfortable. Toilet and showers dirty to the point that you don't want to use them. You have to go outside to use... More

This is my 4th stay and it has gone downhill. The trundle bed in the 3 bed female dorm was virtually unusable with a big dip in it and VERY squeaky and noisy every time I moved. The air conditioner was set to 24 C or below so it was cold, and there weren't any blankets when I requested them... More

stayed here for 5 nights recently.Good location but near some building sites so prone to some noise.Staff were helpful when I lost my purse and cards.Pool and spa were not open at the advertised hours tho' and the lounge was closed up earlier than stated. It felt a little like juvenile jail but I'm 70! My first room was borderline... More

I am single, & 70 recently stayed in a private double room.Very basic, but I expected it to be.No extras at all, & I would have expected maybe soap, a cup etc. However I was for-warned via reviews.. Banyan suited me very well. The staff were extremely helpful, & polite, even offered to help with luggage up stairs-- help not needed... More

I was surprised at the poor state of this place. One bathroom four each floor but not all 4 toilets operated and the showers were in very poor state - mouldy and rotten. The kitchen was a bare minimum and not available till 8AM on Sundays - not suiting most travellers who move early in the hot weather. I gave... More

Overall poor experience. Poor kitchen facilities so you couldnt cook. Even though you have to pay 20 bucks for cuttlery. Bathrooms were dirty and disgusting, 2/3 toilets didn't work. One has a broken door which judging by other reviews has Been there a while. Mold, clumps of hair and slime in the shower. Rooms were basic, dirty floors, had to... More

I stayed at Banyan View Lodge right after arriving in Australia. I had booked an ensuite single, and got a three-bed. room to myself. The cleanliness was alright, but could have better, considering the price. The furniture in the common room is quite worn down - and it is true what others reviews said, you don't meet people easily. However,... More
