I stayed at Banyan View Lodge right after arriving in Australia. I had booked an ensuite single, and got a three-bed. room to myself. The cleanliness was alright, but could have better, considering the price. The furniture in the common room is quite worn down - and it is true what others reviews said, you don't meet people easily. However,... More

Stayed in a standard double room which resembled a prison cell. Basic bed and wardrobe were fine but the fridge was filthy. 2 out of 3 of the toilets on our floor were out of order with the doors hanging off! The only useable toilet door was also broken! Some showers also out of order with doors hanging off. The... More

Amazing this place must be on the demolition list. It's a I don't give a stuff reaction from staff when pointing out the toilet blockages, loo & hand paper missing and it's just so run down. I would have left but was staying with someone who raved about the place. I think this even changed their mind. Not worth it... More

Still a cheap option in expensive Darwin. But really needs to be cleaned by somebody. Also the out-of-order toilets that were still being used was not a good look. Perhaps it is about to be demolished; does not look like the maintenance is predicated on it being here much longer. Some bits were good; the bedrooms. Not so the bathrooms;... More

Found the accommodation very comfortable and the location very good. The amenities were very clean. The reception desk was excellent and very helpful. Would certainly stay there again and would recommend it to older backpackers as you are out of the busy part of Mitchell St, but an easy walk or short bus trip into the party area

Intended to stay four nights but only stayed one, 6 May 2014. The double room was satisfactory although the fridge could have been cleaner. No problem with the key deposit as many YHAs do this but the deposits for cutlery and crockery was an irritation and then in the kitchen itself there were hardly any pots and pans. No plugs... More

this place is disgusting! The first floor bathrooms are dirty and mouldy, they supposedly clean them in the morning...they don't clean them, they spray bleach and the use a hose to hose everything down. No scrubbing, no wiping, nothing! 1 toilet was blocked for 2 days until I went up and complained, so the cleaners or management while they were... More

Have to pay a deposit to hire cutlery, crockery and room key. Hostel used a lot by workers so not a place to meet fellow travelers. Office has limited opening hours. I had to check out before opening time so had to return my crockery etc by 5.30pm the night before to get my deposit back. This meant I had... More

I stay in this hostel in March 2014, during my travel around the Australia and I think that this is really the worst place ever. 25$ deposit for the keys, 20$ deposit to use the kitchen and to have cutlery and dishes (REALLY dirty). There is no air condition in the hostel, just in the rooms and in the tv... More

Dont come here if you want to use a kitchen. You have to put a $20 deposit to use the kitchen. Which you might have had if you didn't already pay $25 for the key deposit. If you get access to the kitchen, its often closed, you can hardly use it anyway because its so badly equipped. Everything is rusty... More
