Prior to my business trip to Darwin I read the reviews about this "Motel/Apartment" and must say I was expecting the worse. It was a pleasant surprise to find the place freshly painted, room clean and whilst the furnishing a little dated was serviceable. The complaints about musty smells - untrue. The complaints about stained sheets - untrue. Complaints about... More

I can honestly say I'm a pretty fussing girl and after viewing many other places to stay in Darwin, Luma was a pleasant surprise! Like I said, it's not 5 star and very very basic, but I found it to be clean, pretty well equipped, in a great location (5 min walk to the main street) and the air-conditioning was... More

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Darwin for extended periods with mixed feelings about my stay. Then, due to a shortage of accommodation in the city, I was booked into The Luma Luma Holliday Apartments. It was a stroke of luck. Yes, it could do with a face lift but the price reflects that. What the Luma... More

If I had paid a budget price for my stay in this hotel I probably wouldn't have quite so much of an issue with the facilities. Unfortunately I was paying full rates, and I left feeling ripped off. As soon as I entered my room I noticed that the chain latch securing my front door (which can be accessed by... More

These apartments are beautifully maintained in classic early 80's condition, which may be the last time anything was dont to maintain or clean the rooms, the light fittings and bathroom hardware are perfectly matched to the dated look, at least the prices are up to date - at around $190 per night they are about the same as you would... This is the oldest place in Darwin and most of the apartments are taken up by workers in gas etc. Only about 20 are for holiday renting. We had a stay of two halves. For two nights we were on the first floor and it was shabby. Curtains split and didn't fit the window, cockroaches in the cupboards and generally... More

read the reports before booking this hotel , and used trip advisor as a guide , we paid $140 night ,and got a double bed in a separate room with its own air conditioner and ceiling fan , also a fold out sofa bed which we didn't need in a combined lounge , kitchenette area (also with its own airconditioner... I've stayed here several times now and always had a pleasant experience. I always book a studio through wotif, which is around $100 a night and although you can do better than that price at several other places in Darwin, you're not going to get a kitchenette or a private balcony. The rooms have always been clean and the air... More

We stayed here as everywhere was booked or more expensive. The rooms are clean, and its opposite the Mantra Pandanas. The rooms are ok, and nothing special, but they do have a little kitchen area with a hot plate stove, a toaster, some plates etc. The air conditioner struggled in the heat. The room has a little balcony, but the... More

Was here for a week last week in a one bed apartment. Yes, the rooms are pretty old school, but I found they were kept clean; the service was excellent and all the staff very accomodating. The aircon and fans are more than adequate to keep it all cool. The kitchenette is well appointed; fine for breakfast and lunch, although... More
