The staff often over book the rooms meaning people have to move around alot. The beds have plastic covers on the so every time you move it rustles, the bunkbeds are almost broken so when the top person climbs on it squeaks and sways about and are unbelievably loud. The aircon is loud and leaks on floor and the fan... More

This hostel is cheap and is located in a good location. Other than that, this hostel has almost nothing going for it. The bathrooms and rooms are not clean, the beds are uncomfortable, you have to pay for WiFi (which is located only downstairs), and its a party hostel (which can be good/bad depending on what you are looking for).... 13 hour transit in Darwin. Meleleuca on Mitchell close to night life in Darwin so rented a car and drove into town - 15 minute drive at dusk. Parking is free and on site so this is a huge plus. But space is limited so make sure you park early. Pool & spa next to kichen on 1st floor. Bar... More

I stayed in this hostel for around 3 weeks while awaiting farm work. It was terrible, plastic beds, the room floors get flooded due to air con, and the staff are very ignorant and rude. During the 3 weeks a toilet door was consistently broken as was a shower door. The kitchen is the highlight but still you are forced... More

If you are used to the YHA's excellent kitchens and bathrooms then this will disappoint. No cooking implements or cutlery in the kitchens. Waiting for a receptionist to be free might get you a spoon and plate but don't count on it. It has a very very lively bar scene which seems great at 6pm returning from a tour but... More

Overall, you get what you pay for. Compared to hostels in other capital cities in Australia, the standard of the rooms here is not as high, however considering the location this was quite acceptable. I stayed during a long weekend so I expected noise through to the early hours of the morning, which dident really bother me and was no... More

I have traveled around the world including to 3rd world countries and this has to be the worst place I have ever stayed. The private room cost me $100 for one night and was horrific. My room was right next to the pool/bar, the music went til about 1am, which isn't a problem except for the fact I didn't have... More

I stayed at the Melaleuca for one night. They were nice enough to check me in early after I explained my jet lag. I'll give them that. But it was just a dirty place. The bathrooms were the worst I've seen in any hostel. They didn't carr much about presentation. Behind the check in counter there were bags of fast... More

This place was the first hostel I stayed in as part of a tour. I didn't get to sleep until 4:30am then had to get up at 5:30am - not a good start to the trip! There was music blasting all through the night and drunks in the halls all hours of the night. It's nothing more than a party... More
