Stayed at the Cavenagh for one night only in a Double room. Didn't expect too much given the room price. The room was clean, with a flat screen tv and coffee facilities. Negatives: only 1or 2 tv channels available and no window!! Reception staff very helpful, clean facilities. more

We landed at the Cavenagh, or "The Cav" in a very tired and drawn state. We had booked a "deluxe" room and my wife is accompanied by a Guide Dog. This was a busy backapckers with full bar and decent food. We stayed 3 nights in total and we had no issues with cleanliess or anything else that I have read in the other reviews here before I went. The rooms were neat and clean. The bed lined was clean, as were the towels. more

This is, indeed, not a family hotel, it is a backpackers hostel. And for that, it was a very nice one! Our room, and any other that I heard people speak off, had maximum six beds and a private bathroom! This is very nice after camping out in Kakadu or something. What a superb find and what excellent value for money. The staff at this hotel are absolute gems, could not be more helpful and the restaurant food is truly excellent. Try not to miss the band by the pool on Sunday afternoons, it is great entertainment. The Cavenagh have newly renovated rooms which are great, really modern furniture and colour... more

This place is NOT for family travelers. It is bare bones. Make sure you bring a sleeping bag, towel & toiletries. The room was dirty, cockroach included (no joke). We stayed there one awful night. The place was very dirty and we caught Bed Bugs. I'm still trying to get rid of them... very hard and expensive (doctor expenses, medication, lost of time as well as laundry expenses (everything has to be washed in hot water...)) We missed our flight out of Darwin to Sydney (it said 1:30 and we assumed 1:30 PM not AM). But Virgin Air told us this happens every day.
