Yulara has you as a captive audience. Desert Gardens is a superb hotel, the rooms are fine. Clean and large. The bar is fine also, however I thought the fine dining restaurant was truly superb. I had Black Angus Steak with truffle & mustard sauce... to die for! Service here and indeed the entire resort is first class (all hotels... More

... you're miles from anywhere and they've got you by the short and curlies so they don't have to try too hard. Having said that, I found the Desert Gardens experience perfectly reasonable. It isn't your normal location - almost everyone turns up on a coach and they're not coming all this way to see the hotel are they? So... More

Serves its purpose. They have a captive audience so can charge what they like - the restaurants are very expensive and all run by same company so no competition. Rooms are functional but tired and boring. Everything is clean and tidy, customer service isn't great. Stay for a day or two and move on!

DearCleo53 Thank you for your review. I am pleased to read you found the hotel to be clean, tidy and functional. It is disappointing to read your thoughts on customers service. Please be assured we take this feedback very seriously and these comments are addressed accordingly with the team. Our prices for both accommodation and dining reflect our isolated location... More

We thought we'd booked Sails in the Desert Hotel but, upon receiving our documentation a week before our departure from the UK, discovered we'd been allocated Desert Gardens Hotel instead. Assured by our travel agent they were "much of a muchness", however, we were prepared to enjoy our stay. Sadly, we were disappointed. As this trip was to celebrate our... More

Dear Eileen R Thank you for your review and congratulations again on your ruby wedding anniversary. I am glad to hear you thought the food was excellent in our restaurant Arnguli. The inclement on the Easter long weekend certainly provided its fair share of challenges for the team. Alternative dining options were arranged however congestion in some restaurants was unfortunately... More

Rooms are clean and comfortable although could do with some tlc. We had nice view of the Rock. Restaurant is expensive so it pays to check out the other eatieries. Staff very pleasant and helpful. Pool area clean and well kept and much appreciated in 36 degree heat!! Lovely to receive bottle of wine and card to celebrate our anniversary!!

Given that you're in the middle of the desert the facilities are very good. Rooms are tired but functional with decent showers and comfy beds. Restaurant is very overpriced, but this is true of the whole resort. Staff helpful. Pool clean and well kept.

We booked a holiday through Qantas and decided to upgrade to the Desert Gardens. Our room was large w/ a fridge and patio w/ chairs and a table. Lovely toiletries....Ayers rock is EXPENSIVE whether it's food or beverages or a shuttle out to the Rock...be prepared. We found cheaper food at the Pioneer Outback which is also where the Bottle... This hotel is one of a group known as Ayers Rock Resort. It is in the medium to high range of this resort and was fantastic considering they have built this in the middle of a desert. I went to Uluru when I was younger and the place was a camping ground. Although you can still camp, you can also... More

An excellent place to stay when visiting Uluru, as an added bonus our first floor room had the most wonderful view of Ayers Rock, we watched it change colour as the sun moved round. Good food in the restaurant but wine is very pricey!

We had a lovely time at the resort and found it very homely. The place was clean and everyone is cheerful and helpful. The location is very convienent to Uluru and Kata Tjuta. If you do not want to go out the outlooks also give a faiirly good view. However some of the directions and paths to the outlooks could be...
