Dreadful place, dreadful customer service ... seriously I thought those negative comments couldn't be true of a 5 star establishment and booked regardless. How true they were, it is awful - and the staff are so unhelpful too. How this hotel gets a five star rating is the biggest mystery ... just because accommodation options are limited in the area... We only stayed for one night, as part of our big Australia trip, but are glad that we didn't spend longer. The rock is an amazing site and worth visiting. We spent 24 hours - did the base walk, the sunset, then got up for the sunrise and climbed it. All brilliant. The hotel is in an odd group/village of... More

NEVER EVER STAY HERE!!!!!! We had travelled on a trip for our 10th wedding anniversary - staying 5 star all the way - Raffles in Singapore and Shangri-La in Sydney. We hoped for 5 star in Ayers Rock. What a disaster. Filthy room and terrace - weeks old spider webs. Restaurants horrendous - we waited 40 minutes for wine -... More

We loved it. We are a family of five and this was loved by us all. The room was great with a great view of the olgas and ulluru. The jacuzzi on the balcony was just great after getting up so early to go on the trips. Order some Aussie champagne and some room service oysters and you are away.... More

We stayed in this hotel as part of a tour of Australia. Loved it, it's the best hotel in the area of Uluru. Do NOT miss the dinner under the stars, that was an experience I will never forget. They have a telescope there where you can actually see the rings of Saturn and the Red Spot of Jupiter. Amazing.

We spent one night here in July. We got a better rate on wotif.com than the rate advertised on the Voyages site. For the price we paid, you would think we would get a suite at the Four Seasons. Instead, we got a nice Holiday Inn room. But what can you do, it's in the middle of nowhere and they... More

Sands in the desert claims to be a 5 star hotel. This is rubbish. It is about 3.5 stars. We stayed 3 nights, and every morning had cold showers as the hot water system was not hot. By mid afternoon hot water was available, suggesting the system cannot cope with the morning peak. Just not good enough. Staff varied from... More

My new husband and I stayed at the Sails in the Desert hotel for two nights. We booked a room with a spa which was nice but I was disappointed with the room itself as it was threadbare and we had a few "visitors" - two spiders and a cockroach! Thankfully there was bug spray in the closet. I understand... More

Billed a FIVE STAR but BEWARE. Rooms are generous size, restaurants abound in and around the hotel, just doesn't live up to a top rated facility, tired furnishings and housekeeping was awful. Room not serviced until 3pm or after and then only when the desk was called. Housekeeping left the room open while we were out, about five hours. Luckily... More

We were forced to stay in Uluru by our flight schedule and decided that we would make the best of a bad job. Given other reviews, we were not expecting much but the hotel was clean and comfortable and the food was OK. We were stunned by both Uluru and the Olgas and if given the choice, would go again...
