A wonderful and welcoming oasis in an expansive arid desolate landscape. A beautiful facility in keeping with the Australian indigenous, outback theme. Very friendly, helpful and accommodating staff everywhere. The buffet restaurant and the bar restaurant provide, in the main, good quality food. The evening buffet does need some work, starting with heir pasta sauces. The superior bedrooms are very,... More

Sails in the Desert is the most expensive of the hotels in the Yulara complex. The room rate for peak season was about what I expected (around $300/night). Adding an extra $7 "compulsory porterage" charge is something I can only hope does not take off in Australia, or it will become like trying to work out the actual cost of... More

Stayed 24/25 August, 2015. Staff could not have been more helpful from check-in to departure. Every request was met with keenness to provide a solution to our request. Breakfast and dinner were both good as was our sandwich and beer in the bar. The rooms were clean and serviced regularly. My only negative observation was that the sealant in the... More

This hotel was always going to be expensive given the remote location; that needs to be taken as a given and the price factored in accordingly. Having said that I was disappointed by my hotel room. It felt like a motel and certainly was not a room that I wanted to spend any time relaxing in, other than to sleep.... More

Very comfortable, large room. Stayed in a superior room with king bed and large bathroom. Our booking for 3 days included buffet breakfast which was the best choice we have every found. Lots to do and see. Well worth it to see the "Rock". Although we enjoyed our stay I would not say it is 5 stars. I would give... More

This place was well worth the money. I cannot fault the resort at all, OK maybe a slight exaggeration, the place does look little tired around some edges. But that is not an issue. We were taken care of in every facet. The room was very good with a view over the desert and a slight glimpse of Uluru. The... More

Sails in the Desert is a very nice, upmarket hotel in the Ayers Rock resort complex. It has a good restaurant and bar, very good service and lovely pool and surroundings. It is well situated in the Ayers Rock Resort and is close to all the other amenities such as the town square, Uluru viewing areas and other hotel restaurants.... More

Our first visit to Uluru (Ayers Rock) and we selected this accommodation as part of a package deal. The resort was lovely as decorated with Aborginal art and furnishings that reflected the serenit of the place. A beautiful pool and large grassy surround with plenty of loungers to relax on and get some sun. Reception staff were efficient and helpful... More
