The Ayers Rock Resort was built in answer to the unplanned sprawl that had overtaken the sacred areas of Uluru. The sprawl was cleared and the Resort complex was built 5 miles from the "Rock" to include all levels of lodging and facilities. Outback Pioneer is the most economical of the group yet provides all the essentials in a comfortable... More

I stayed here over Easter for a long weekend and was really happy with service, cleanliness and the room in general. It was perfect for my stay offering food options, a bar and a pool. I would recommend.

The Outback Pioneer hotel is the cheapest hotel in the Ayers Rock Resort center. Overall still food stays very expensive. Rooms are spacious and clean. The breakfast is nice. You have lots of choice and in low season it seems not to busy. I do can imagine that it can be crowded and loud outside once the resort is fully... More

For 2 nights at Uluru we were n't expecting 5 star but found our room to be clean and well equipped. The bed was very comfortable and clean.Facilities at Outback Pioneer were very good. Breakfast at 'reduced price' of $25 we still found to be a little on the high side so we declined. You can get all that you need at... More

A functional hotel catering for all sorts of travelers ranging from backpackers to tour parties. The service is fine but hardly personalized and the eating options are expensive. The rooms are fine and , fortunately provide, self catering facilities. The hotel is obviously overpriced but is probably still the best value for money in Ayers Rock where it's the law... More

Hello John E Thanks for sharing your hotel experience online. Your comments on our team are noted, and I would like to advise this is an area we are concentrating on and always looking to improve. Cheapest of the four hotel options at Yulura. My room was very clean, large and well appointed. Adjacent to the swimming pool. Be aware the March time of year is the black fly season which exist in huge numbers. Not too bad a problem in the hotel area but when you venture out to Ayers Rock and the Olgas you... More

Hello Ken18 Thank you for your review. It is always a pleasure to have a satisfied customer share their experience of the hotel. Yes the flies out at Uluru were quite bad during February and March. They have disappeared at the resorts now, so I would think that it would be a lot better now for site seeing. During your... More

When you see these two words together, you would expect the facility to be basic and spartan. It would be inappropriate for me to review on facilities that I have yet attended. Suffice to say that the bar and restaurants are more akin to a mess hall. This place is most definitely catering for the high turnover budget tour groups.... More

Hello wiredfrog Thanks for taking the time to review our property. As Ayres Rock Resort Group we do offer all levels of comfort from Back Packer to Five Star. The Outback Pioneer consists of a back packer’s lodge and also a 3.5 star hotel. We do have the main bar for the resort area, which offer causal catering option. This... More

Booked via a travel agent. Staff charming and helpful but accommodation a bit tired and dated. Pool refreshing after a long travel. We were there in March 2014 and the restaurant was closed for evening meals. Didn't give a lot of options for eating out as use of bbq area expensive. Breakfast reasonable value for 33 AD per person, go... More

Hello juliebarrett1964 Thanks so much for taking the time to write a review for our hotel. It is good to read that the staff where charming and helpful, as we do invest a lot of time in customer service training. As a whole the Ayres Rock Resort has an ongoing improvements/ refurbishment plan, however there is considerable time needed to... More

The layout of this hotel is a bit like a holiday village, which I quite liked. The rooms are dated (breeze block walls painted over) but comfortable, clean and spacious. It really needs a bit of a makeover. I enjoyed the atmosphere as it is also a backpacker's place and there are lots of young people around. It has an... More

Hello YorkDragon Glad to read in your review that you had a good stay at the Outback Pioneer Hotel and lodge. As a resort group there are plans in place for hotel upgrades, but with any large complex this will be done over the span of sometime. This will be covered in stages with the individual hotels Regards Mauri Van... More

We had many meals at the Pioneer kitchen, all of the meals were beautifully done, and were throughly enjoyed, they did the best Pizza I have ever had! Great atmosphere, everything was clean, the staff very friendly, I would definately go back.
