I should've definitely read these posts before booking the A.S. Plaza. They are all totally right. It is a hostel pretending to be a hotel. Think 'jail cell' and you're about there. Don't let them kid you about the cafe across the road opening early so you can grab a coffee before your departure. You're better off walking into town... more

This hotel was 'sold' to us (two couples) based on its central location and a 3-star rating. The central location part is true - not that it really matters as there isn't much to see in Alice Springs. What a pleasure it is to tell you all about this place!! Ambience: horrible. Visit if you're sick of your comfortable life and want to slum it. Noisy. Very noisy. We were there two nights (Why?!!) We booked a room there, checked in, saw it and immediately left. I have never been in such a dirty, unfriendly place! Spider webs, dirty sheets, no running water and one small dirty towel on the rail! In trying to claim our money back from our travel agent who highly recommended it, we had to ask reception for a letter... more

DO NOT stay here under any circumstances. This place is a dump. The dorms are really small, the bathrooms are filthy and i did not feel safe here at all. There appears to be very few staff and so checking in is a nightmare when there is a big arrival. I'm sure there are better places to stay in Alice... more
