If you want to experience the real Outback and explore the simply breathtaking Eastern Macs then Ross River Resort is one of the very best hidden gems and a 'must do'. Remote and rugged, the RRR has the whole spectrum of experiences from 'swag under the stars' to bush camping and the air-conditioned cabins set in a tranquil yet truly... More

Glad you enjoyed your seafood lunch accompanied by a nice cold beer! Shane makes sure that beer fridge is always up to scratch! The fuel bowser on the other hand can be temprimental on hot days which isn't an unheard of I am told in these hotter places. I am glad it didn't cause you an issue getting home though. More

We arrived just 2:30pm for lunch on that day which the bar supposed to be closed. However, the staff was still willing to take our order. We tried a Fish (Tempura Barra) and chips. The beer was very cold as well. It was a good lunch as we didn't expect such a good seafood in this remote outback ! They... More

Yes, the West McDonnell Ranges are beautiful but go look at the East McDonnell Ranges - they are stunning. We spent three nights at Ross River. This place is unique, rustic, and it is certainly back to nature. The facilities are old, but very clean, and well presented. ( However, the showers in the camping area need some attention.) The... Thank you for your kind words Alan and Roslyn and we are glad that you enjoyed your stay! We have recently painted the amenities in the campground and the next job is to work out how to strip back those tiles in some showers that are worse than others with the legacy of hard bore water - they can appear... We camped in the lovely tree filled camping area, backed by the rugged rockface. Unfortunately, the aged shower/toilet block needs serious work - water was pouring out of the wall for days, with signs that this is a common problem. The pool was not available for most of the stay - "a chemical imbalance - we ran out of chlorine"... More

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your concerns. We agree we think that the campground is a beautiful space to base yourself in to either relax or explore the amazing East Mac Donnell Ranges. In regards to your comments about the campground toilet, we have had a small leak which has over time caused a... More

I recently visited Ross River, east of Alice Springs, what a wonderful place. The drive through the East MacDonnell Ranges was absolutely amazing, such magnificent terrain. The homestead at Ross River is very unique, very friendly staff, the managers, Jodie & Shane, are really hospitable and so helpful. it was a delight to stay there, delicious food. I would thoroughly... More

Two sisters enjoyed a fun 4wd tour of a small part of a large property. Shane very generously spent some time pointing out major geological features as well as some of the introduced animal species that have made the place their home. Future luxury camping plans would be a worthwhile extension of the accommodation. A superb sunrise which highlighted ranges... More

Ross River Resorts was one of the gems of our 5 week tour of Australia. When you wake up in the morning you know where you are (not a sterile hotel room but a rustic cabin with peacocks tapping at the window). The food was awesome, way beyond my expectations. Even though we were only there two nights we felt... More

I can't recommend this place highly enough, and would like to thank Shane and his family for a memorable visit. We rounded off a three-week 4,000 km trip round the Northern Territory with a final night at Ross River, and it proved the highlight of our trip. The pristine scenery is one thing, and the bird life another, but there's... More
