We visited towards the end of the dry season so the vegetation was very brown and lifeless and the wildlife were hiding from the intensity of the sun. However we had the best time because the hosts, Rogan and Bron run such a great touring experience. Simone our guide was excellent and we visited many aboriginal rock art sites as... More

What a lovely little gem this place is. Only a short drive from Darwin, the beautifully kept gardens are lovely to walk around. We stayed in one of the bush bungalows, which was very neat and comfortable. The property relies on bore water which is potable, but tastes a little funky. A bottle of complimentary bottled water is provided but... More

The Mary River Wilderness Retreat is an awesosome place to stay. My Husband I stayed for 4 days recently and had a great time whilst there. The staff, amenities, activities to do whilst there and general location were 10/10. It is peaceful and breathtakingly beautiful, whilst close enough to do many day trips, especially to Kakadu, in itself a must... More

This is a great place to camp for a few nights en route to Kakadu, with plenty to see in the area. The campsite is well run, with shady powered sites ($33 per night) and lots of other non-powered sites. Wallabies jump around in the park and there are several marked walks. The river boat trip was excellent value at... More

Mary River Wilderness retreat & caravan park On the way from Darwin to Kakadu we stranded here for two days, due to a broken down rental vehicle. Despite the frustration over this, we had a lovely time at Mary River. The caravan sites were lovely and provided access to all the required facilities. Moreover, the staff was extremely helpful and... More

For a resort they really offer basics. There was no phone (or cell phone reception) in the room no TV and the only WiFi was at the reception which was expensive and not good (to repeat what the receptionist told us). The flash light on the key was a surprise but was useful as the trails are not lit. The... More

Stayed two nights powered campsite. Nice grassed shady camp area. Clean amenities block with plenty of hot bore water. Washing facilities. Happy hour very reasonable. Very peaceful and restful. Staff very friendly and helpful - happy to book attractions at other areas which was most helpful due to poor phone service. Pay phone at reception.

Stayed for one night in a renter motor home. The restaurant facilities and surrounds were sensational. We had a good priced happy hour at the bar and a carvery dinner with plenty of variety. The pool was clean and inviting. Good access to the Mary River. Camp sites were shaded and grassed, although probably a bit close together considering the... More

We attended a family wedding on 26 July 2014 and stayed two nights in the pool bungalows. The rooms were beautiful, the beds comfy and the shower pressure was great. The staff members were extremely welcoming and helpful; breakfast time was even extended on the first morning for family members who arose at bit late. The setting was lovely -... More

We only stayed one night on our way to Kakadu, and would happily have stayed for longer. We had a bungalow facing a small pool which was for the use of the pool bungalows only - I had it to myself for most of the time. River cruise was interesting and fun - saw lots of fresh water crocs and... More
