We stayed out of season, in the wet - January. Cabins are fine, pool ones best. Wallabies everywhere at dawn and dusk. Nothing was too much trouble for Bronwyn and her team. Close to the amazing Bark Hut pub. Very high standard for country accommodation.

We opted for a poolside cabin. Nicely appointed, comfortable bed and extremely comfortable pillows with a wonderfully big bathroom and shower. We stayed over Christmas and were advised the restaurant would be closed. We brought our own food and with the surprisingly larger than normal "bar" fridge, we had plenty of room for the food. Mary River Wilderness Retreat is... More

We spent 3 nights in a poolside cabin. The cabin was immaculate, the bed very comfortable and the air conditioning very effective. The gardens were lush and inviting as was the pool. Beautiful birds at every turn. We enjoyed happy hour on the deck followed by very enjoyable and fresh dinner. I wouldn't recommend the boat cruise, but apart from... More

Mary River Wilderness Retreat is a beautiful, lush setting in which to relax. It has a very attractive dining complex with wide outdoor verandahs and Balinese style furniture. The food is also very pleasant. There are interesting walks near the Resort although you should be aware of resident crocodile activity. There is a small, inviting pool well away from the... More

This is a good base for touring the region. We spent 3 nights in a cabin. These were well appointed with air conditioning and ceiling fan. The area was surprisingly shaded and the gardens were well kept as was the pool. The camp sites seemed good and there was a good laundry and camp kitchen available. There were a couple... More

The caravan sites are nice and provide enough space and shadow. However the facilities are not very good. The bathrooms for the ladies were not clean. The tour on the mary river was nice and informative.

Darwin to me was one of those mysterious places crocodiles lived, and since I migrated to Australia I have wanted to go there and have a look. Combined with my fascination with feathered birds, not that I am anti the other type, but this is about feathered ones, when I saw an offer on Luxury Escapes for a Kakadu and... More

This resort occupies a beautiful riverside position and is a great base for touring both the Mary River and the Kakadu National Parks. We took one of the evening cruises and saw lots of both freshwater and saltwater crocodiles. plus many birds - you can also hire a boat and explore the river yourself, but the local knowledge of the... Purchased a special 4 days/3 nights deal through LuxuryEscapes. We were picked up from Darwin and shown all the main Kakadu highlights including Ubirr Rock, Coroboree Billabong, Fogg Dam, Nourlangie Aboriginal art sites and Llitchfield NP including Florence Falls and termite mounds. Tour guide Barrie and Rogan the driver/owner of the resort shared their expertise and knowledge, making us feel... More
