The worst experience at backpackers.. Dirty, smell like a old toilette, cockroaches everywhere, the smaller ensuite bathroom ever seen, shower was not working, room hot as hell.. Honestly I don't know how can still be open .. We didn't aspect a 5stars hotel .. But hey ...... This is the perfect way to steal money from travelling people !! Baaaaddddd... More

Thank you for your review. I am somewhat confused with the issues that you raised in your review. The previous review is from a guest in the same room that didn't seem to raise the issues with the shower not working. With the issue with the heat in the room, we are experiencing high temperatures at the moment and we... More

Myself and a friend stayed here for 4 nights for just a little holiday in Sydney. We were greeted at the hostel by friendly and informative staff who were happy to help in any way they could. We stayed in the twin room with an ensuite and we both agreed it was perfect! The room and beds were both clean... More

Thanks for your positive feedback with regards to Home. The ensuite double rooms are a great option for people that want their own facilities and privacy at a reasonable price in the heart of Sydney. From looking at your booking details it seems that you were staying with us during a hot spell so unfortunately the hostel was fairly warm.... More

I stayed at the beginning ofJanuary, the staff were helpful and friendly. The hostel has 2 tv rooms and 2 kitchens, which were clean. The room itself was comfortable with a large ensuite, which was also always cleaned! Free wifi and free pancakes at the weekend! Great deals on weekly room rates. Definitely recommend!

After staying at Home Backpackers a second time I thought I'd better put a review up to congratulate the guys on all the work that's gone into the place, it's definitely improved since my last stay. Let's not kid ourselves this is a bed in the middle of Sydney for under $30 a night, so it's not flash like some... More

Thanks for your positive feedback. We feel that we offer a good service for the cost in such a central location. We are by no means the newest hostel in the city but we try to offer a product that has a little more personal touch in the cbd. The pancakes and pizza are always a hit with anyone staying,... More

Home Backpackers is one of the few privately run hostels. Its atmosphere is extremely cozy, welcoming and homely. I intended to stay for some days in October and ended up booking to the end of December. If you do not want to spend a ton of money, but still expect a nice place and a great location, book in at... Thanks for your review. We are on the smaller end of the hostel scale with regards to size, but we do have a nice atmosphere and a mix of more longterm guests and travellers. Our rates are some of the cheapest in the cbd and we feel with the free pancakes, free pizza night and free wifi we offer alot... More

Supposed to stay 2/3 days here at first, after 3 weeks, it's really time to go.. Welcoming/helping staff, free pancakes on weekend, close to cbd, equipment is simple but clean, wifi basically everywhere. If you love life in backpackers, you should try this one.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay and liked the facilities and the weekend pancakes. We are more budget accomodation so the facilities are basic, but we ensure they are as clean and tidy as they can be in a busy central sydney hostel. I am glad to hear you found our staff welcoming and helpful as this makes... More

We just arrived and we've been really sceptical because we saw all the bad reviews...but actually it's a very good hostel ! Perfect location, clean rooms, clean kitchen, free WiFi & friendly stuff ! The only thing we miss is an AC, but the fans are okay and you can open the windows/doors at night so it's not too hot.... More

Thanks for your review with regards to the hostel. I’m glad that you enjoyed your stay with us! Unfortunately we don't have AC in the building, but as you said if guests open the windows and have the fans working then this helps in the summer months! If you were still a little warm you could have come to reception... More

The only good thing is location and the staff. To be honest, it's one of the worst hostals that I have ever been. The bed was the noisiest that you could imagine and very unconfortable. Thanks you for your review with regards to your stay. I am sorry that you didn't have a positive stay with us. Staying in Surry Hills

Neighborhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighborhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colorful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. In this vibrant neighborhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
