You get exactly what you pay for in this hotel. It is a no frills experience but with plenty of space, comfortable beds and a good level of service I believe this represents very good value in a city with very expensive hotels. I definitely recommend if you'd like to keep costs down while staying walking distance from the city.... More

I stayed in a room that was facing a very busy street. I was really humid, so I had to keep the window open. As a result, it was hard to sleep at night. There was also no air conditioning, rather a fan was provided. However, the room was nice. Although, it would have been nice if room service was... More

We ran out of options and had to book a room before our arrival in Sydney. This building might have been a converted students boarding rooms long time ago. It's very close to Central Station. We arrived late around 11pm and it was no problem at all to check-in. We called the number given and the in-house staff came down... More

Two "senior" ladies from Wollongong needed overnight accommodation in Sydney to catch an early train the next morning and stayed at Central Private hotel. It was very basic, but I knew that when I made the booking. The duty manager provided excellent service by getting our cases to our rooms (3rd floor, no lift) and attending early the next morning... This is a very basic place, the facilities are old, but clean. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms have free wifi and PC to use. Location is only metres from Central station so great if you are coming from airport by train. It can be a little noisy but the price is right.

Third experience of staying here, PC in room not working (probably thankful given it's probably riddled with viruses) but Wi-Fi free and issue free for the entire time. Floors in halls and in rooms need attention, carpets in the hallways have seen better days. Thrilled to find no heating equipment in room, the one appliance I thought was a bar... More

We got a room to the street, with a lot of noise and not good isolation, so it was pretty cold! The bathrooms were not on our floor, which made it more inconvenient though I do not mind shared bathroom. I think the floor was recently painted so it smelled badly like paint and chemicals. The location was good though,... More

As someone who lives 200km from Sydney, I was looking for a budget accommodation to stay overnight so I could catch the train to the airport for my early morning departure. This hotel was within walking distance to central station, Sydney, which was excellent for dragging heavy suitcases. The room was basic but clean. It had a fan, TV, refrigerator... More

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighborhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighborhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colorful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighborhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
