Good location. Midway between Kings Cross & Potts Point. Walk to the inner city train in 10 minutes. Hoof it to the Opera House & Circular Quay in 30 minutes. Rooms are shabby, relatively clean. If you are there a week they will clean the room, new towels, but no daily service. Price is the draw here. Cheap, for SYD!... More

I stayed here as it was a located in a trendy area and it was affordable. The room was old timey but clean and nice. The staff at the front desk was extremely helpful with suggestions and there were bars and Restaurants everywhere in the area.I would stay again.

Perfect for what we needed, a cute hotel near to the centre and near to the shops/markets. Not an upscale place but the building itself is beautiful. It is down a quaint little street. Do go to the Saturday markets about a 5 minute walk from the hotel!! Spacious rooms with sink. Communal bathroom so you have to walk through... More

Several rooms booked for family trip, 3 nights in May. Absolute building site, cement mixer outside room( in back yard) lots of building materials everywhere, gritty floors covered in cement, unsafe. The bed cover was stained and really 'tired' furniture. I complained and we did receive a small discount but I'm shocked that rooms were being let in this condition.

Sadly, had to say, I wouldn't recommend this accommodation to others unless they bring improvements in the future. Stayed there for one week, the fan in the toilet wasn't working throughout the stay so when I was taking shower, the whole room was foggy and wet. Had insects inside the room. The bed had tires on a wooden surface so... More

I stayed at Challis Lodge for 11 nights in April. I had a late check in and was greated by a friendly man at the door. As I walked in the door I saw a sign saying that the lodge was undergoing renovations and that there 'MAY' be noise between 8:30am and 5pm. As I got further inside the door... More

DON’T DO IT, NO MATTER YOUR BUDGET RESTRAINTS! The words hideous and third world country standards come to mind. In fact, they’d probably be better. The images of this property on all accommodation websites must have been taken 20-40 years ago when this place actually held up even a minimal standard. THE ROOMS IMAGES ARE OLD AND WRONG! The walls... More

The rooms- though clean- are very old, shabby, and VERY tiny; not really what their online photos represent. Our bathroom plumbing leaked, making the floor always wet. Since the shower and the toilet make up ONE tiny closet-sized room, it would likely be wet anyway. However, the lack of A/C (very humid), and the low-end hostel effect of the room,... More

My daughter had paid for three nights at Challis Lodge based on a previous stay. However the Lodge was undergoing renovations which stated work started at 8am, it acutally started at 7.05am and our room was right next to the work storeroom. Our room smelt musty, the bathroom ceiling leaked from the room above and water constantly dripped onto our... More
