BIg on Elizabeth is a lovely, homey hostel. The staff was so friendly & helpful - I left a small bag there by accident when I checked out and they mailed it to me in Melbourne, no problem. There is community space on the ground floor to meet people and chill & a clean, decently-sized kitchen. Laundry is good. I... More

Like other guests who stayed here, I am really torn about this hostel. The facilities and location were great. The hostel is close to all major public transit and a short walk away from Sydney's main attraction. However, as another user mentioned, the first floor absolutely stank. We stayed in an 8 person mixed dorm and the smell of sweat... More

I am a solo traveller who stayed for 3 nights. The hostel was clean and a great location. The staff were very helpful. Shoutout to Danny who gave me a lot of good things to do and see in Sydney and made made me feel very welcome as a solo traveller. Would go back.

Cheap accommodation so close to the central station and market city. Rooms with exclusive bathroom available. Free bread and spread for breakfast. It can get noisy at the common living area. Fast and efficient check in check out

Nice room. I paid a little extra to be in a 4-bed/private bathroom. It was a really nice room: clean, spacious, and well set up. Only room complaint was that the top bunk was incredibly squeaky. Free Wi-Fi on the ground floor along with a free basic breakfast. Rooftop area as well as a downstairs common area. I wasn’t around... More

Located about 2 blocks from Central Station and about 4 long blocks from the main Sydney CBD area. We booked a quad room ensuite - to ensure we are not sharing with other guests (there were only 3 of us). The room had 2 bunk beds, one of which is a double so the room can comfortably fit 5 people.... More

Needed to stop over for one day on the way to the USA. Private room and bathroom. Clean room. Very helpful and friendly staff. Next to Central train station, bus stops, small convenience stores, Dominos pizza and pubs. Free wifi in lobby. Would recommend.

I stayed at this hostel for 4 nights. Great location, 8 bed room not too small at all, bathroom was clean, even had hair dryer and straighteners. Did not use the kitchen but ate the included breakfast, cereal, toast etc. Would definitely stay here again.

I traveled the east coast and this was by far the best hostel we stayed in. On arrival at 8 am our room was obviously not ready but we were allowed to store our luggage and help ourselves to free breakfast (cereals, tea/coffee and toast). There was free wifi available in communal area and comfortable sofas. The staff were extremely... More

The room is just nice for us as we stayed in the 2 bed en-suited room. It was clean and the towels will be changed every two days, while bed sheets every 5 days. There is free breakfast, such as milk, bread, Margarine, and cereal provided. You may bring your own food and cook at the kitchen too, some cooking... More

Staying in Surry Hills

Neighborhood Profile
Surry Hills
Once regarded as the traditional fashion area, Surry Hills has broadened its appeal. This neighborhood continues to distinguish itself as a shopping destination, offering the best collection of one-of-a-kind boutiques, designer brands and flagship stores in the city. Today, this area has evolved into a hub of media, design and professional services - a colorful and diverse place equally known for its antique dealers, art galleries, cafes and pubs. Strolling down the street on a Saturday morning, you’ll see a mix of students, artists, hipsters and a few all-nighters from Oxford Street, the “Gay Capital of Sydney”. In this vibrant neighborhood you will find bohemian chic and modern style co-existing side by side.
