Had a lot of fun here. Great pub if you like a bit of fun. Its just like a real pub should be simple accomodation, good vibe, great people and music in the most awesome location. Near bridge. Quay and opera house and staying in the Rocks in sydney is the best place to be!

Based on prior reviews, I was not expecting a lot. However I was a bit disappointed. If it wasn't because of the location and price, it would be getting a 1-2 star rating from me. PROS: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION - Prime location in The Rocks. Walking distance to everything! Price Breakfast is included - even on days that a continental... More

If you are looking for fun and friendly accommodation in the heart of the rocks on a budget (breakfast included) this is the place to stay. Live music Friday - Sunday, super friendly staff and an excellent location with the weekend market on your doorstep and everything else around the corner. The rooms are basic but comfortable, shared bathroom facilities... More

good priced rooms in a great location. Staff friendly and helpful, and also flexible. Ask for an ensuite room so u get AC and your own bathroom , so not sharing with other customers. Free internet which is hard to find, free breaky also. A little noisy from the traffic on the street, but can sleep through it. I would... More

Look I guess you get what you pay for. It was basic but clean and tidy. I had to go to a seminar nearby and then dinner afterwards. I needed a cheap bed for the night to save me a long trip home. It was a hot Sydney night so I tossed and turned as there was no A/C in... More

Our room was dirty, the bathroom mouldy with a rusted bathtub and dirty sheets. In the morning when we went downstairs for our included breakfast it was in a small cramped room and there was no food left. The staff were helpful but did try to overcharge us for our booking.

You get an instant 'Irish Bar' feel to the place (obviously), but it's the geniune feeling of stepping back in time when you get to 'The Merc'. It feels like the l;ate 1800's, and you're just off the boat, ready to start a new life...after a few pints, of course!

Popped by on a Sunday afternoon having walked through the weekend market on George Street. The Guinness sign was the main reason, Sydney seems bereft of other bars selling Guinness. Initially took a table outside on the road, which is a great place to sit watching the world walk by. The service at the bar was fast and very friendly,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Mercantile Hotel in the Rocks for 3 days prior to our cruise and then 2 days after the cruise. From the first point of contact, the staff were incredibly helpful and they made our stay very enjoyable. The rooms (spa suite) were large and comfortable. The sound from the bar did not travel... I've lurked here and even stayed here on previous visits to Sydney. What a treat to see it again. Green glazed exterior tiles give way to thick yellowed cream paint inside, old wood, and a casual feel ($20 minimum on credit cards, by the way). I've been here on live music nights when craikh was in the air - that... More
