I spent a Wednesday night here. At $65 incl breakfast I was expecting fleas, rats and bedbugs. But they were all staying elsewhere. My room was small, but clean and warm. The shared bathroom was newly refurbished and also very clean. The continental breakfast was excellent. Staff were friendly. It was midweek and quiet at night. Sure it's not The... More

This is for the adventurous traveler who would like to stay in cheap, clean motels that are one step above a hostel. We arrived at about 9 on a Saturday night to find that the road was closed off for The Rocks Market so our cab dropped us off at the barricade and we walked the rest of the way.... More

This is a very old Irish themed pub and it is a great place to spend a Sunday evening in Sydney. Entertainment is provided by the incomparable Shaylee Wylde and ranges from rock and ballads to Irish music. Entertainment starts about 8.00 pm and finishes after midnight. The clientele is a mixture of locals, overseas visitors and the Sydney Irish... More

So so noisy- after noise from pub and pub closed, trucks sound like aeroplanes taking off all night as they make their way up hill. Road works or something outside all night. Windows very thin and cold. Staff rude- clearly unhappy hotel is part of the job.

We stopped in here during a cold night in the middle of the crazy vivid festival. We where in search of a warm place to eat good and delicious food! That's exactly what we found! For a reasonable price we have a quickly served lovely dinner! The place is not the most fancy, was not super busy and the live... More

Go the Shamrock pie (beef vegetables in Guinness stew very crispy pastry) best pie I've had in a long time. Was with my father in law and he said he'd go back just for the pie. As always a pint or two at the Merc when in Sydney is an enjoyable way to spend some time!

I moved to Mercantile after spending a few days in a hostel. What a relief! In view of the price, the location is excellent location, very friendly staff, nice rooms. Its an old house but rooms and bathroom is clean. Though reception is not there 24 hours I had an access key and no problem whatsoever. I´d definitively book this... More

Positives would be it was clean enough, the manager was nice and the location was great. Negatives - THE NOISE! The music in the pub below went on till 1am then our double room was next to the family/dorm room with an adjoining door. Unfortunately for us this was occupied by a bunch on drunk and rowdy women who would... More
