I was there with friends for a night. We took the family room, which was only AUD110 a night! We chose this backpackers because of its central location. Overall, this is a good, decent, no frills and value for money backpackers. Despite the place looking slightly old and dull, what I really liked were: - Clean sheets - Convenience store... More

Even though this is a budget 2 star accommodation/backpackers it served our needs well.. It is very well located near to all the shops and very handy to Central Railway station. There is No LIFT and you have to use the stairs all the time.. Staff were friendly and helpful

I've stayed for many hotels in Sydney but for me this hotel is the good one considering the price, location and service. I've got a very good deal for this hotel and they give a very good service. The staff was very nice and the hotel is very clean. Hotel location is very accessible and just walking distance to sydney's... More

Room type: Twin @ $73 per night. Our room was on the 2nd floor, so it was shielded from most street level noise. No tv, but it's not necessary. Fan provided in the room, but no air conditioning. At this time of year this was not a problem, but in Summer, it might get too hot. Communal bathrooms. Bathroom availability... More

George is a perfect hostel, located smack downtown Sydney. The free bus stops right outside the front door, Scruffy Murphy's around the corner serves a great cooked breakfast and there is free internet or wifi in the common room. We stayed in a double room with a private bath and tv (!) for $100, Nothing schmancy, but it was clean,... More

my room was really noisy until about 3am and then at 9am housekeeping hoover outside rooms and bang on doors to see if you need towels. I left there just wanting somewhere quiet to catch up on sleep. Bathrooms were not cleaned everyday. They say they are a hotel, but are defo not!

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your feed back regarding our business. I apologize for what must have been an awful night. We have had problems from the pub next door and their sometimes loud music. The noise affects a couple of our rooms that face in the pubs direction. I'm dealing with this but it is a... More

A previous review gets it spot on: "Advertised as a boutique hotel on the Internet, the George is definitely not boutique, CERTAINLY not a hotel and the service leaves a lot to be desired." Only stay here if you are headed towards the 3rd world after here, will be roughing it, and need to prepare. It honestly felt more like... More

Advertised as a boutique hotel on the Internet, the George is definitely not boutique, CERTAINLY not a hotel and the service leaves a lot to be desired. We arrived, exhausted, at the shabby-looking lobby only to be told by the surly receptionist that we had no booking, when in fact we had received email confirmation of our three night's stay... This is definitely a hostel not a hotel, though the majority of the rooms are single/twin. I stayed for a week in a 6 bed girls room, over New Years. The best thing about this place is the LOCATION. George Street runs all the way down to Central Quay and there is a free shuttle bus running along it, though... More

"The George" was the last place we stayed at our our trip to Australia. It advertises as a "hotel" but it's definitely a hostel. I think the best way to describe it is as an incredibly well run business. There is FREE internet which works fast and well. The room was comfortable and had a window. The kitchen area was... More
