Dirty and damp is what you are greeted to when you arrive at this hostel. The kitchen is tiny and is filthy, the communal area is filled with old and used furniture with rips and tears. The bathrooms are really dirty. Beds are relatively comfortable but the rooms themselves smell strongly of damp. There is no atmosphere in the hostel,... More

I stayed here for two nights at the end of my travel around Australia and I can safely say it's one of the worst places I've stayed! The photos on booking.com looked nice and the price was cheap so I chose it, big mistake! The photos were obviously old and the place no longer looks like that. On the website... More

Worst hostel ever! Be careful: BED BUGS! The only good thing is that it's cheap and in the center of Sydney. The staff was very unfriendly! The rooms and bathrooms are dirty, kitchen is tiny. The beds feel like the will break every minute. I met there a lot of weird people - a lot of smoking inside, alcohol and... More

This hostel was a good price for its fantastic cbd location..... now I know why! lots of people who are not staying at the hostel hang out in the common area and take advantage of the TV and facilities, this area is already too small for number of guests let alone random people from the street. This also made me... More

Breakfast and location is the only good of this hostel, some lockers are broken, bad wifi and one day I can't change my phone because some plugin didn't work , I felt very lucky because I didn't lose anything. Think if is better save some money or stay in a good condition, is a place for sleep and leave soon

Absolutely disgusting. So dirty it is hard to imagine. On the description on hostelworld they say they have "hospital grade cleanliness", well it must be a post zombie apocalypse hospital that they are comparing it to. The rooms have mountains of clothes/ junk from long termers who have been there 9+ months (these long termers are all very rude to... More

This would have been an average hostel...not horribly dirty, not horribly smelly, decently priced, solid location. But then... A fight between a staff member and a guest broke out at 1 AM over whether or not a window should be open. It went on for fifteen or so minutes. We thought it had been settled but then POW...on go the... More

You can't expect too much from a hostel; but I have stayed in 3 in Sydney CBD and none compare to this. It's clean, the staff are friendly and the people were great. Yes, there are some faults. The wifi is extremely tempermental (however Scruffy's is just next door and offers free wifi, if all alse fails). There aren't enough... More

This hostel is cheap and that is for a reason. They do not change the bed sheets between customers so beware. They just brush the bed down with a floor brush. Make sure you pick up all brand new sheets when you arrive. The balcony is a great place to sit and watch the busy world go by but sadly... More

Don't even consider staying here... Where to start.. In the bathrooms the flush buttons on the toilets were missing and you have to reach into the hole and press the stick. Ew ew ew. There were tiles missing as well. Mould was growing around the edges of the room and broken mirrors as well. The dorm was disgusting, you couldn't... More

Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Tiger-flanked archways on Dixon Street mark the entrance to the “little Asia” of Sydney. A walk through Chinatown is a feast for the senses where aromas, tastes, sounds and visions of dancing tigers transport you to a different world. Chinatown visitors can expect a melting pot of Asian food at the neighborhood's specialty delis and groceries. From yum cha to handmade noodles, BBQ ducks hanging in the window to Asian sweets and bakeries, there is something for all tastes. Paddy’s Markets is the largest flea market in Sydney where you can find souvenirs, clothing, gifts and fruit and vegetables at unbeatable prices. At night, Chinatown comes alive with entertainment including theater, nightclubs and bars that are open until the early morning.
