Where to start about Sydney Backpackers. We live in the Sydney suburbs but decided to stay in town for the weekend while our friends from Norway came to explore. Firstly, the staff at reception are so slow. Took us a good 10minutes of us just standing there to finally begin to get served. Secondly, awful location. Sure close to town... More

Stayed here for about four nights in the 2 bed dorm. Although it was cool to have a TV and our own fridge we didn't have a window and were right outside the toilets. The toilets were gross. They stunk really bad and the only hand soap provided was actual blocks of soap; no way am I going to wash... More

Let me start by saying that the only good thing about this hostel is its location. Their room rate is relatively affordable in Sydney standards, but you should know that you get just what you pay for. I’m pretty sure you can find reasonably priced and better accommodations in Chinatown near Central Station. This particular one is not so clean... More

I stayed for 2 nights in the 6 beds room. In the room, there are personal lockers for my important stuff. I liked the personal locker and I was able to borrow the locker key at the reception. I hope the shower place at the level 3 will repair soon. After midnight there were very noisy because of rubbish bin... More

It's cheap and in the most perfect location. The rooms look abit crummy, but it can be a good home for many nights. We're just students who doesn't have much money and this has been greatly affordable than most locations.

There's nothing hugely wrong with Sydney Backpackers, but there's also no reason to stay there when there are better hostels at about the same price nearby. They don't have a secure space to store luggage, they only give you one sheet, the bathrooms are a little gross (though each toilet and shower is at least in its own room) and... More

It was a very last minute decision for me as I needed a place to sleep in Sydney for just one night. Decided on Sydney Backpackers as it was cheap - man this is the last time I will book an accommodation without doing more research. I wasn't expecting a lot at all for the price, as I honestly just... More

Sydney backpackers isn't as bad as some other reviews say: It's a neat little place in a small building tucked away on a small street right in front of the Event cinema in the middle of the city. It's in Korea town with a charming little Korean BBQ restaurant next door and an internet cafe and a seriously geeky comic... More

They started by charging us more than the quoted price to stay. It continued when we walked in and saw their "secure storage" is actually just them leaving people's luggage in the hallway. They can't even see it from the front desk. Anyone could take whatever they want and they wouldn't know a thing. Then we got to the room... More

Rooms are spacious with large lockers but very cold!!! Beds not really confortable and light blankets. Common areas are dirty and several kitchen facilities are out-of-order. Good location. Free slow wi-fi.
