The hotel and restaurant never fail to impress, staff are always friendly and the day and night managers couldn't be more helpful. The wine list is one of the best, winning awards year after year and is particularly good for a hotel. The Lord's beers brewed onsite are a credit to Sydney's craft brewing community. My favourite is Old Admiral... More

I've been trying out boutique ale Brewers for about a month now, and they're thankfully, popping up in Sydney like mushrooms after spring rain. Nearly all I've tasted a very good quality. The ale that the Lord Nelson Brewery brew is simply perfect. I tried about three. All very nice. The pub is one of those that you instantaneously feel... More

Visited here with the family for some food and a beer. Location is slightly out of the way but not difficult to find. Decor is very basic, stripped back to the essentials, which is fine. Excellent selection of beers, most their own work, which I can recommend. Pity about the food, hence only four stars. We ate in the pub,... More

Food was good, but service was very slow. The rest of my group had just about finished lunch when my food arrived. To make things worse, we were on a tight schedule and I did not have time to enjoy the meal.

Had dinner with friends in this great pub. Party time downstairs, but much quiter upstairs, great atmosphere and service. Food outstanding, we had the lamb shank and scotch fillet, very tasty. The brûlée is to die for and cheese platter outstanding.

Our second visit to Sydney and The Lord Nelson. The star of the hotel brewery is the building itself built in, and housing this establishment since, 1841. Don't expect modern amenities (the free wifi is sporadic and temperamental, TV sets an awkward afterthought). But if you want the charm of thick stone walls, dormer windows, cozy pub with wood burning... More

Revisited Lord Nelson after too long an absence and found it unchanged! Great beer, ambience, food and for a Queenslander the open fire is heaven. Boutique brewery at its best. The staff are very professional and welcoming. The food accommodates all palates from pie with mushy peas to a spaghetti with crab and chilli. Wines are reasonably priced and again staff... More

My wife and I went with another couple to have a few beers. We did just that and stayed for dinner as well. My wife and I both had the chicken dish (only one option) over a bed of lettuce. It was very good as was the beer. We chose the Orchard Crush as we eat and drink gluten free.... More

I first came here in 1987 and it hasn't changed much since then. No pokies, no loud music = wonderful. The beer is great, although way too cold. I wish they would serve these great old English ales at slightly above room temp as they should be but this is a minor quibble. The food is also worth stopping in... More

We went to this restaurant on Saturday evening. The ambiance is quite modern with the exception of the floor, which is a floor to floor carpet that looks old and dirty. The menu is limited, especially if you don't eat meat. We had the catch of the day (ocean trout), which was fine, but a bit overcooked. The Fish pie... More
