We had our team luch at this venue. The food is great, but the service is pretty bad (besides the owner being pretty grumpy). The staff cleaned the table by piling up the plates in front of me and they scraped off all my neighbours' plates dropping their leftovers directly on my plate! I had never seen something like this... More

I was having a hard time finding anything of good value in the Rocks so I was so happy to find Lord Nelsons. It has character, it is an old hotel, I think the first in Sydney. Also has great bar and nice restaurant. The room was huge and clean. Breakfast was included. It was basic in what was served... More

Great brew pub in one of the oldest areas of Sydney. Lots of beer selections. Got the Three Sheets Pale Ale. It was a very nice pint despite the $9 price tag. Great atmosphere. Outside seating. Reservations taken. Would recommend to everyone.

Called in to sample a dark ale and soak in the atmosphere. Friday arvo after work crowd beat us there; just added to the vibe. Beer fantastic with plenty more to tempt us in for another visit or five. Staff welcoming and plenty to look at while we enjoyed the brew. Looking forward to getting back next time in Sydney.

We initially just went for a beer as the have their own in-house brewery but we ended up having some bar snacks as well. This is just like an old English pub with a restaurant and letting rooms upstairs. It was fairly busy but we found a table and ordered some beer (the service was a bit slow to start... More

I stayed at the Lord Nelson on a recent trip to Sydney and found it an excellent place to stay, within moderate walking distance of all the main tourist spots. I arrived very early, as my flight landed at 5 a.m., and had to wait for the cleaner to turn up to let me in. She immediately made me welcome... More

We just spent 4 nights at the hotel. Lukewarm bordering on aloof welcome on Friday afternoon, followed by being ignored for the duration of our stay, except for a couple of pleasant interactions with housekeeping staff. The Lord behaves and feels like a hotel that doesnt need to try very hard, because it knows it's got the market cornered. I... More

Located in a peaceful part of the city, but close enough to everything ! The rooms are excellent, being upstairs in a historic brewery has its advantages. I thought the rooms might be a bit noisy, come Friday and saturday nights, but they are not. Comfortable, airy, light.... perfect ! In my humble opinion, this is the best hotel I... More

Stay here! Wonderful people. Great beer and pub grub and Aussie experience! If you're looking for a place near the The Rocks that's not touristy and has locals instead of being stuck in a join with German, Canadian, and German tourist. I left out American because I'm one. (Ha!) But this is a great place to meet and talk to... More

First, this review is for the Pub, not the hotel. I sought out the pub on the recommendation of a local colleague and went there as a group of six people. This place is located in the Rocks area, but just off the tourist center. It was a 10 minute walk from the Shangri-La hotel. It was 6.00pm and The... More
