We loved our room though a little squeezy, it was great to be able to open the windows. Bed was comfy enough. Maxine was amazing and seemed to be EVERYWHERE doing EVERYTHING with a smile on her face. Loved the fresh flowers, the location, the parking was very close and no problem at all. Downside was that it was $25... More

This hotel was an interesting mix of positive and negative elements. But ultimately I enjoyed my stay. Note that it really is a “hotel” in the traditional sense. It really depends what you're after. + Location, location, location right in the heart of The Rocks + Quirky, individual style hotel with labyrinth layout + Interesting choice of room types +... I love this hotel but never bother with the manky breakfast - the delicious Renaissance cafe is just around the corner. We had a great, quiet room up the back this time which was perfect for us. However the shower was terrible: I was alternately scalded and frozen and just ended up having a cold shower as that was safest.... More

Beautiful old building, very different to the big name hotels, very personal and homely. Would definitely use them again. We had good night chocolates on the bed each night (which made us smile) Breakfast was included in the price, was continental, but very adequate. The only thing that we found to be anything like a problem was the stairs to... More

I been staying at the Russell for 32 years, and sending all my like minded friends there. I love the rooms, the decor, the location, the friendliness (not quite so evident on my recent stay), the sitting room and the quirkiness. But this time the breakfast really let it down - a charmless room, with breakfast TV and very average... More

The hotel is at an excellent location. The rooms are old, refurbished in a cheap way and not very clean. The breakfast is humiliating! Below youth hostel quality! included in the price and therefor offers this hotel poor value for money. I recommend to spend a bit more and enjoy the luxury and splendid rooms, service and food in the... More

Our recent one night stay was fabulous. Will go back for longer next time. Gorgeous old hotel with quirky layout. Room was very nicely presented and very clean. Staff were lovely and very helpful. Enjoyed the bars and restaurant. Much more homely feel ( and price) than nearby large hotels. Views over to Circular Quay and great place to stay... More

We stayed one night before our cruise and one night on return. Friendly staff, excellent location, clean pleasant rooms. Suggest a room with ensuite. Easy access to wharf and to historic landmarks. Interesting shopping.

The location of the hotel is perfect, and the staff very friendly and helpful. I had to leave to the airport at 4.30am and the staff checked me out the night before (as the reception is closed from 10pm-7am) and called a taxi to pick me up at 4.30am. The hotel is in an old building, and so what I... More

Very clean, ensuite, queen size room, with fresh decor. A quaint corner hotel in The Rocks - very well located within walking distance from train station, harbour, bridge, opera house, ferry terminal. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Our friends recommended this hotel to us
