When my aunt recommended The Hughendon, I didn't know what to expect. Sure, she said it had a "certain charm", but "charm" can mean a lot of things - expensive, run-down, unairconditioned. I knew the Hughendon was in a good area, so I decided to give it and its "charm" a go. Boy, am I glad I did! It was... more

I totally agree with traveller123468 and I think we ended up in the same room as traveller123468. However, on reflection I would probably stay at Faulty Towers. The smell in our room was so bad, that even the girl at the front counter came to our room about 2 mins after we walked into it, said to us, "I think... more

Coming from the US, I am used to staying in large chain hotels, but my wife insisted that we try something unique and different. Against my will I said ok and was prooven wrong (which my wife happily gloated about). The location was so convinient for us. It was right on the bus line and near everything. The staff were... more

My wife and I have stayed at the Hughenden over many years, often with various family members (making a crowd). It has always been excellent. We like the sense of it being the same from year to year, cosy, slightly, ever so slightly shabby, just like a welcoming home. Noel Coward and the 1920's set would have fit right in. more

The place looks nothing like the pictures on the internet. The room I stayed in was cold and filthy. Paid $240 p/n for a "deluxe king room", which was foul, strange smell and filthy bed cover, not to mention the mold growing in the bathroom. All the staff I encountered were incompetent and bordering rude. This place makes Faulty Towers... more

From the moment we stepped into the Hughenden Boutique Hotel, we adored it! It really is a charming hotel with cozy fireplaces, the sounds of beautiful piano melodies and interesting antiques displayed all around. The staff were friendly and helpful, the service was great and the meals at the restaurant, Quaifes were lovely! Definitely good value for money, especially considering... more

I stayed here over new years and found the location great. The service was ok but the rooms were teeny tiny and and very uncomfortable. The restaurant was great but I would not stay there again - the location is perfect but it is not worth the money. more

Our stay at the Hughenden, where we had stayed quite a few times before, was very disappointing. The carpet required vaccuuming and the facilities were very basic. Very little thought has been put into the decor. The "antiquess" were a couple of 1950's bits with art work that looked like it had been donated from the local primary school. All... more

We had never been to Sydney before so were unsure of where would be a good location or place to stay. We came across this small hotel which looked unique and interesting and a bit more warm and cosy than those sterile large hotels. It was perfect! Located so convinenantly near everything that we wanted to see - 15 mins... more

I pre booked a family "apartment" in November 2008 for our stay in march 2009. I especially mentioned that i had a three month old baby, a five year old child , my husband and his mother as well as myself- that we were looking for a two bedroom apartment with a lounge - all was confirmed- price, cot, bath... more
