I stayed 3 days 2 nights at Castlereagh..my friends,Naturally 7 was holding a concert at Enmore Theatre and were staying there so that's why I end up at this hotel.. First impression..looking vintage and all..I thought the furniture and all must be old and wear out but nah.. It looks perfectly good....checking in was swift and I was told I... More

Only 5 mins walk from Museum Station, and walking distance to Circular Quay (if you like walking) or 5 mins over to George Street to catch the free shuttle bus #555 that travels around the CBD. Lots of food places close by. Our room was small (room 1102) but neat and clean. The window faced on to a concrete wall... More

I stayed here for 3 days. The hotel is also a Masonic Club. It's a little quirky. Rooms are on the small side. I booked a deluxe double which was a good size for me. Restaurant times are limited as is the menu. There are other places to eat nearby so this isn't much of a problem. Standard was 4★.... More

I am a member at the Club and have stayed at the Castlereagh three times before. On each occasion I was given Room 1102, a suite with a separate lounge room, and although some refurbishment is still needed I liked the room. So when I decided to stay overnight in the CBD I again chose the Castlereagh, and rang to... More

The location was perfect - 2 blocks from where I needed to be. The price was excellent - good value for money. But the room was shabby. There is just enough space to walk around the bed. The adjoining bathroom was a step up. I missed the step once and nearly fell. The room paint was mustard yellow, and the... More

While it does have a good location and the price isn't as bad as most other CBD Sydney hotels, this hotel bills itself as a boutique hotel when it is not. The building is older and could be charming, but that is as boutique-y as it gets. The hotel is quite run down and sounds carry (a lot!) between rooms.... More

I booked this hotel as it was described as a deluxe 4 star boutique hotel and it was not particularly cheap! In reality it was an old run down, once beautiful building with rooms which you could not swing a cat in and bars and restaurants and room service which were not available after 8.30. The dining room whilst had... More

Good points Very central location , between 3 rail stations, St James, Museum and Town Hall. Lovely old world feeling about the hotel.lots of old photos, potted palms and quality furniture. Nice foyer. Towels were soft and the bed was comfortable. Room was clean. The pre purchased breakfast for $15.00 was fair value. Beautiful old dining room. Fresh fruit, real... More

Great location. Nice to be in a boutique hotel. The rooms were small, but the bathroom was huge, it had a big tub and separate shower. The best part: free washer/drying machines, including the soap. It was an old-fashioned hotel, a little dark, but with plenty of character. The people at the front desk were very helpful and friendly.

The minute you step into the hotel you feel like you stepped back in time. Such a beautiful old hotel right in the center of Sydney. The room was a bit small, but the style and decor was quality and charming. The room was clean and well maintained. The Concierge was wonderfully helpful. Parking was not as convenient, but not...
