This place is just OK. Room is tiny but clean and shower has good pressure. Rooms have virtually no sound-proofing- I can hear every word of my neighbour's conversations. It's a great location and close to city sites. Room service meal was v average but well-priced. Service desk helpful and polite. Not a bad hotel if you want a reasonably... More

We truly enjoyed our stay at this lovely hotel lovingly restored in the style of art deco. The downtown location made most sights within walking distance. The staff constantly impressed us with its knowledge and sincere friendliness.

After a very long flight into Sydney in middle of the night we arrived here. The staff was not welcoming, in fact after our arrival, the staff made a horribly insensitive cultural reference about our home country that left my friend and I speechless. Don't be fooled when they say "double-room" it's about an 8x8 room with bubble glass windows... More

No on site parking so good if you don't have a car. Small rooms but comfortable and clean. Close for shopping and city sites within close walking distance. Good value.. If you have a car there is close arrangement with nearby Hilton. Need to be quick in loading and unloading luggage as there is no dedicated loading bay specifically for... More

I was sold by the promise of a centrally located, elegant, hotel restored to its 1920s glory. The glory stopped at the elevator doors. The rooms have been furnished with faux antique furniture, but nothing relieves the claustrophic effect of the ghastly mustard walls, the concrete skeleton of the building's support beams sitting above one as one lies in bed,... The Castlereagh is a historic, if somewhat quirky hotel, located in the middle of Sydney's CBD. The foyer of the hotel is very elegant and reflects the era in which the hotel was built.Although the lifts are slow, you know that entry to the accommodation floors of the hotel are secure as you require a special key which operates entry... Good location but room was tiny with no natural light and old hard beds. Definitely not a 4 star room as the hotel advertises itself. I would not recommend it unless budget was main priority. However, there is a great coffee shop next door which made up for what was lacking with the accommodation.

I'm all for value for money accommodation all over the world so usually go for the budget chains. BUT the Castlereagh Hotel came up in my research, it has to be appreciated for its historical value & absolute class! The building & rooms are gorgeous, attention to detail are second to none, cleanliness perfect, & yes the hotel is in... More

I chose to stay at this hotel based on location and price. After staying I can definitely say the location was excellent with a very short walk to the train and shopping and a very do-able walk to Circular Quay and the Harbor. The room was very small and dated but was clean and quiet. I only stayed for one... More

The location is terrific, walking distance to trains, ferry, theatre, city shops, art gallery and lots of great eating places. On our last visit had a meal before the theatre at Castlereagh which was excellent. The rooms although small are clean and adequate. The staff are lovely and very helpful. Our place to stay for a couple of days when visiting family. Have... More
