This place wouldn't have come up on the radar, save the mention as an option when a friend mentioned it. Just down from St James railway (so easy train ride from airport if wanted), it placed you right in the City at a very reasonable price. The architecture is astounding, as it is on the site of the Masonic Club... More

The staff at the reception counter were very friendly and welcoming. My hotel room was clean and bright, and the furniture was classy. The vignette and history of the Club were interesting and informative. It was quite educational for us, and unexpected trip down memory lane. Thank you.

I stayed here for one night whilst I was in Sydney for business. The room although small, was adequate and clean. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast provided simple but yummy - except the coffee which was horrible! There are interesting and lovely historic photos that line the walls. The elevator is a tight squeeze if more than... More

Room small, clean and quiet, enough room to spend a comfortable night. Excellent bed for a sound sleep. Reception welcoming and helpful. Breakfast food plentiful and basic, happy to prepare poached eggs for me. Close to many restaurants and cafés. I would definitely stay again.

I stayed 3 days 2 nights at Castlereagh..my friends,Naturally 7 was holding a concert at Enmore Theatre and were staying there so that's why I end up at this hotel.. First impression..looking vintage and all..I thought the furniture and all must be old and wear out but nah.. It looks perfectly good....checking in was swift and I was told I... More

Only 5 mins walk from Museum Station, and walking distance to Circular Quay (if you like walking) or 5 mins over to George Street to catch the free shuttle bus #555 that travels around the CBD. Lots of food places close by. Our room was small (room 1102) but neat and clean. The window faced on to a concrete wall... More

I stayed here for 3 days. The hotel is also a Masonic Club. It's a little quirky. Rooms are on the small side. I booked a deluxe double which was a good size for me. Restaurant times are limited as is the menu. There are other places to eat nearby so this isn't much of a problem. Standard was 4★.... More

I am a member at the Club and have stayed at the Castlereagh three times before. On each occasion I was given Room 1102, a suite with a separate lounge room, and although some refurbishment is still needed I liked the room. So when I decided to stay overnight in the CBD I again chose the Castlereagh, and rang to... More

The location was perfect - 2 blocks from where I needed to be. The price was excellent - good value for money. But the room was shabby. There is just enough space to walk around the bed. The adjoining bathroom was a step up. I missed the step once and nearly fell. The room paint was mustard yellow, and the... More

While it does have a good location and the price isn't as bad as most other CBD Sydney hotels, this hotel bills itself as a boutique hotel when it is not. The building is older and could be charming, but that is as boutique-y as it gets. The hotel is quite run down and sounds carry (a lot!) between rooms.... More
