We booked 2 nights in the Macleay Hotel because of the disappointing experience at another hotel in the same area...What a difference...Effective and courteous staff at the receptions 2 lifts to go up or down to or from the room...it seems trivial and unnecessary to mention the lifts but believe me climbing narrow stairs with heavy medium to large luggages... Booked two rooms for the Australia Day long weekend and loved it! Rooms are spacious and have everything you need! We were mainly using the hotel as a base only really there to get ready and to get some shut eye! Perfect location only a short stroll to Kings cross and very easy to get taxis to and from.

We stayed at this apart hotel for 6 nights. We choose it for close proximity to the City. We requested a room at the front of the hotel on as higher floor as possible. Our flight arrived in Sydney at 7.00am we were not looking forward to the wait to check in. We arrived at the hotel at about 08.30... More

Room 813 was everything we had hoped for .... a perfect view of the Opera House and Bridge one way and Elizabeth Bay the other. The room was very clean and tidy, mini bar was well stocked too. A well placed hotel within walking distance of eateries and bars and a 25 minute walk to the Opera House through the... More

Without a doubt the highlight of our room was the view of the Opera House and Sydney Bridge. Even on a rainy day, looking out over the harbor is a special experience for visitors like us. The desk staff were also friendly. As other reviewers have noted, the rooms are very snug - we had space for a small kitchenette... More

Room was much smaller than expected and compared to apartments we had stayed in at Melbourne and Perth on same trip, just didn't compare. Room was compact and bathroom very small. Needed modernisation. It was clean though and staff were friendly and helpful. We didn't mind the walk into the city and close by was the bustling Kings Cross area... More

Taking into account the relatively modest tariff in Sydney terms, this hotel is very good value for money. Our room on the seventh floor had a kitchenette, which I believe all the rooms do, which is a great money saver, and there is a full sized Woolworths right across the street. The hotel looks to be 1960s vintage and is... More

What has the Macleay Hotel in Sydney got that the ... The Paris Hilton, New York Waldorf Astoria and The Ritz in London haven't ? THE MOST AMAZING PANORAMIC VIEWS OF THE SYDNEY OPERA HOUSE, HARBOUR AND BRIDGE. Ok this may not be a 5 star hotel, but the staff are the most helpful and pleasant I have come across... More
