The Sydney Intercontinental is in a wonderful location, right next to Royal Botanic Gardens and waterfront walking, close to the Rocks with lots of great waterfront restaurants, right next to Circular Quay with ferries, trains, and buses easily accessible. The Opera House is within walking distance. The room was spacious enough for the four of us, beds were very comfortable,... more

This trip marked our second stay in Sydney but our first at this hotel. This hotel has a really fantastic location, which is one of its biggest selling points (especially if you are unfamiliar with the area and want to be absolutely sure you will have zero problem finding the "big Sydney attractions".) It was no problem whatsoever to get... more

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Intercontinental and highly recommend it, and would definitely stay there again. We were impressed from the minute we got there with the friendly, efficient and professional staff. The hotel itself was lovely, much nicer than what I was expecting. Our room was really great. I had booked a room with a Harbour Bridge... more

We booked at the last minute (literally 1 hour before arriving) on a travel website (not their own) and paid $288 for a rate including harbour views, valet parking, late checkout to 2pm and full buffet breakfast. The first room we were offered smelled of smoke (it was a non-smoking room) and the "harbour views" were of the highway, however... more

As others have noted, this hotel is excellently situated. It’s a very easy walk to Cricular Quay (subway stop, ferries to zoo, Manly, Darling Harbour etc., Harbour cruises), the Botanical Gardens, Opera House, and The Rocks. We arrived at the hotel at 8am after over 30 hours of traveling, the hotel staff were very courteous and, to our surprise and... more

I stayed in Rm 2619 (King City View) on 21 Mar 09 at a Special Rate of $199. Vehicle entrance to this hotel is not well marked and you may, like I did, have to circle around a few times before you pick it. Valet Park is $30AUD. Check-In Experience was average, staff member was cold. Porter took ages delivering... more

My Husband and I have been staying at the Sydney Intercontinental at least 1 night a week for business for the past 3 years. The location is sensational. If you are planning a trip here opt for the "club floor" it is certainly worth the cost difference, the view from your room is breath taking. There has been a change... more

We stayed on a winters Saturday night on a package that included breakfast, a city view room and parking for $249. Staff were friendly and efficient. We arrived at 11am expecting to leave our bag and come back later. It was a pleasant surprise to find that the room was ready. The room was smaller than expected. A small packet... more

Maybe it's the global fanancial crisis but I got a distinct feeling this hotel is cutting staffing to maintain profits...and it shows. Everything you asked for was either delayed or ignored. Check-in was lengthy, as was checkout. Staff seemed to be in an attitude of "how quickly can i get this done". Not a real even 3 star experience. Sure... more

Stayed for one night for a special occasion and everything just seemed to go pear shaped. Wrong room type allocated, a fight to get the room booked. Room was not ready at checkin time and had to argue to get a room 45 minutes after checkin time. Filthy pool complete with scum on the sides. Several requests ignored. It sempt... more
