The Oaks Hyde Park Plaza apartments are well located and reasonable deals can be found. Unfortunately these factors are outweighed by the fact that a major overhaul is needed at the premises - previous reports outline some problems. We found old cutlery/crockery/cookers; collapsing drawers and bathroom fitments/furniture and creepy-crawlies. Add to this the fact that the rooms aren't double glazed... more

We booked a "refurbished 4.5 star" studio apartment for two nights at a very good rate, but were quite apprehensive about what we would find after subsequently reading the Trip Advisor reviews. Either many of the problems experienced by other reviewers have been fixed or we were lucky. The reception staff we dealt with were pleasant and helpful, we did... more

After reading the other comments on Trip Advisor about the Hyde Park Plaza, I thought I’d booked the family into a dump. However, from our experience, the Hotel was a lot better than we were lead to believe. Yes, there was a bit of a smell from time to time in the foyer, but it wasn’t noticeable all the time.... more

This hotel was fairly dismal. We stayed for three nights and despite a great location, the quality of the rooms was too low to consider staying again. We tried to ask for a room upgrade but it was not available. All taps in the bathroom were leaking and difficult to use. The bathroom had a slight smell of mould. The... more

We chose this hotel because it was an apartment and close to the city. Arrived late at night. first room had no air conditioning and was overlooking the park, traffic noise all the time so we were moved straight away. Next room had broken kitchen doors, leather sofa ripped and saggy, cigarette burns on other furniture. Moved a third time... more

Never ever will we stay there again. The room was hopeless. We had constant dripping taps. Wires hanging out of our bedside lamp. A broken cealing rose, with the wires exposed. A broken patio door lock and would not close properly. When we reported all the faults the very next morning. We were told never mind wehen we are not... more

We stayed for more than a week - for the amount of money we paid, it was very expensive, it is not worthed. The hotel building is old, there are two guest lifts, but only one was working, even we and other guests complaints, it was ignored. They advised nothing they can do to fix other lift! The lifts are... more

Excellent location. The hotel is in desperate need of a face lift. Rooms are more than generous size. The hotel has an odd smell in the foyer / lobby area - smells damp. In the 6 hours that I waited for my room to be cleaned (YES - SIX HOURS) I must have heard over a dozen times 'this hotel... more

Oaks Hyde Park is situated in a great location on the main Park and is a short stroll to the city and train station. This is where the good part finishes. Check in was ok although we had to be let in to the room as the room key wasn't working. We stayed in the refurbished "4.5" star room. It... more
