Decided to treat myself to an suite on Australia day overlooking the harbour. From the moment that we arrived to the moment that we left it was nothing short of spectacular. The rooms have the most amazing view, comfortable beds, awesome bathrooms. The club-lounge with the view over the harbour is just fantastic. The location is excellent also. It is... more

This was the best hotel of our stay in Australia. The location was great right in The Rocks. Get the Opera House View room. It was amazing! The bed was VERY comfortable and room was just right. The staff was very helpful and friendly. For the money, it was also the best value of the trip. Plus free internet! Go... more

My bride and I spent two nights at the Shangri La for a mini-honeymoon in April, and it was wonderful, though I may have been biased by my joy at getting married :) The view was mesmerising from the 32nd floor, a stunning vista of our fair city's harbour. Complimentary binoculars would have been nice, but I really can't complain.... more

We started our Aussie adventure with this hotel. Mainly I selected it because of location and possibility to have a view of Opera and the Harbor. So here are a few points on pros and cons which are for sure IMHO ... PROS: + location - is very good and you a in fact walking distance to majority of the... more

Many thanks to the author for their comments and feedback. Im pleased to hear you chose Shangri-La Hotel Sydney for the start of your Australian holiday, however am concerned regarding some of the "cons" outlined in your review. The crane you mentioned is part of nearby building going up that will soon be completed. While said crane is painted blue...

Great start to Australian holiday. Nice welcome (even though we'd come by airport shuttle), efficient check-in staff and the most wonderful beds and pillows imaginable. Minor grumbles would be TV needed updating and we had to ask twice for coffee in Cafe Mix at breakfast on one of the days. We found returning up the 102 poorly-lit steps from Circular... more

This is a lovely hotel that lives up to the term luxury. We were only here one night on the last night of our honeymoon, and used a points program to get a 29th floor "grand view" room (bridge + opera house, the whole harbor essentially). The room was really great, and definitely worth having this view for at least... more

I stayed with a friend of mine for three nights in May, 2009. We had booked a Deluxe Water View Room. Upon checkin (at 7:30AM) we were told our room was ready and was upgraded to an Opera View...excellent! We were escorted to the room, shown the features and the fantastic view and promptly received our luggage. Room: Awesome View!... more

I was here over the long weekend for the Queen's birthday June-8. Had a great view from our room in room 3016 which is on the horizon club floor. Everything was great though the lines getting into the cafe Mix for breakfast were very long over this busy holiday weekend and the horizon club was also busy and long lines... more

Lived in Sydney for 40 years and this is by far the best CBD hotel we have stayed in. We stayed in the Executive Grand Harbour suite and it was the nicest Sydney accomodation we have ever used (and we have used a few). The staff, food, accomodation were outstanding. more
