You expect a certain standard and the Shangri La delivers. We had a Club room with dual aspect and a great view (although not the harbour). Space was excellent along with good amenities. My only minor complaint was the shower could have a better flow of water. It is very well located right near the rocks and you can walk... More

Stayed here for one night to celebrate my birthday. Hotel is great and they upgraded up to a club room which was fantastic with huge Windows with fab views and a separate living room. Located in the Rocks it's really well located. The staff were very attentive and helpful. Bar is not that great despite high up in a great... More

It was our first experience staying at The Rocks, Sydney. One of the best part of staying at Shangri-La is the close proximity to the Sydney Harbor Bridge and the Sydney Opera House – only a few minutes of walk. If you get lucky to get a good room, you can also enjoy the Harbor view. Since the place was... More

This was the first time I have paid in excess of $250.00 for one night's accommodation. So when we were luck enough to received a complimentary upgrade to the best Harbour View room I have ever stayed in, it was all the more special. Not sure how I am going to stay at any other hotel in Sydney ever again.... More

Stayed here two nights. Our travel agent mistakenly booked a room with twin beds but the desk was able to find a king room for us, albeit with a terrible view of the highway and tollbooth. Room was spacious, bed far too soft. Hotel people were all very friendly. Free Wifi which was fairly fast and access to free online... More

My partner and I were checked into the Shangri La by Jessica at the front desk. She had excellent customer service in every way giving us that welcome feel to the hotel. We stayed in the deluxe harbour view room and we could not fault it. The views were just what we expected and more, the bathrooms were beautiful and... More

Stayed here one night on arrival in Sydney. Car parking easy - although hotel a little difficult to find via sat nav. Check in smooth, room not ready so left bags with concierge and received a text message when room ready. Had booked a deluxe harbour view room, however please note that the promised view was only apparent when actually... More

I stayed in a deluxe opera house view room- important to note I had to sit on the window sill to see the harbour and opera house, there was no view from the bed or anywhere else in the room. The room was nice, with an entry foyer and separate lounge. Decor was a little dated. The bathroom was lovely,... More

36th floor Altitude restaurant certainly has the perfect views over Sydney. The food is very well presented and tastes beautiful if you like big portions then think again this is fine dining. But I would recommend for a special occasion. The wine list is very extensive. The staff are friendly and service is first class.

Staying in The Rocks

Neighborhood Profile
The Rocks
The first residents of the Rocks were convicts and sailors from the old nation. As the oldest neighborhood in the city, the area's cobblestone streets host more than 100 heritage sites and buildings, including the oldest house in Sydney, Camden Cottage, which was built in 1816. Taste a “midi “ or a “schooner” of beer and dine “al fresco” on the waterfront at some of the oldest pubs in Sydney. The weekend markets at the Rocks are where you can find local artists' hand-made souvenirs, organic food and designer jewelry in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. To enjoy some of the best Australian and international contemporary art, the MCA museum is open every day and select evenings. At the end of a long day of sightseeing, be sure to save energy to dance the night away at the area's many late night entertainment venues.
