This is a pleasent enough hotel in a nice location with lovely views and right in the heart of The Rocks (Circular Quay, Harbour Bridge etc). There are plenty of places to eat but not much in the way of shopping close by. The hotel is easy to get to (when compared to other hotels in Sydney). The staff are... more

I arrived at the Holiday Inn Old Sydney near the conclusion of an extended journey through the place they call Oz, and thus I had a number of large suitcases stuffed with souvenirs. No one offered assistance in wheeling the items in - it appears that they have surplussed their entire bell staff. Nevertheless, check in was expedient and trouble... more

I stayed at Holiday Inn Old Sydney for two nights over Easter (executive room 6th floor). Location perfect for visting Opera House, Botanical Gardens and The Rocks (we went to Australian Ballet at Opera House). I would rate it as a three or 3 1/2 star hotel. This hotel is in need of a refurb. The Airconditioning was extremely loud,... more

I cannot believe this place is rated similarly to the Intercontinental, there is no comparison. The position is great but the rooms are basic (albeit with comfortable beds) and the bathrooms are 5 years overdue a refit, grimy and uncomfortable. The self publicity would make you believe it was 4 star but the hideous green baize behind reception gives a hint... more

Flew down to Sydney from Brisbane for a few days. I had struggled with choosing a hotel, but finally settled on the HI at the Rocks because of the location and was quite happy when we got there. The location could not be more convenient, easy walk to the ferry at the Quay, just around the harbor to the Opera... more

We booked this room through Expedia and therefore paid in full (for 3 nights)at the time of booking, but even so, we had to check out our last day in order to spend our last night in Sydney at a real hotel, the Stamford,(which was excellent!!! and not that much more expensive)...although the location of the Holiday Inn is ideal... more

This hotel is quite unique - it has a fabulous and quirky layout with an atrium style interior space. The location can not be faulted being 200 metres from both circular quay and the Harbour Bridge, with a view directly accross to the Opera House. Everything was in easy walking distance and any transport was easily picked up in Circular... more

I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights last week - good rate via Wotif as one of their "mystery hotel" deals. The location in the heart of The Rocks is excellent. Staff were friendly and helpful. However, I was given a double room (2 double beds), instead of 1 King. Staff offered to try to change rooms for me... more

This hotel is ideal for first time visitors to Sydney. It's close to the Bridge climb, Opera House, harbour ferries and different wharf attractions, etc. The roof top pool area has a terrific view of them all. Also the staff are friendly and allowed us tio check in much earlier than listed (a wonderful gesture for travellers making the long-haul... more

I stay in hotels quite a bit, so my expectations might be higher than some, but that is no excuse for bad hotel service. The hotel is in a great location. The rooms are Ok but you need to make sure you are not on the street side. I’m sure the rooms with views of the harbour bridge are great…... more
