The Strand Hotel is a very pleasant hotel, we would go there for dinner most nights, the food is very good quality and cheap at the price, we had rib eye steak, salad and chips, the cost for that meal was $14 good value. Another night we had the chicken, I think that too were the same price. We found... More

So we searched for a hostel who doesn't take over $30 and is in the city center. We found it, and they even do the bed for you, when you arrive. The hostel itself is a old hotel I think and the reception is the bar in the ground floor. The staff working here are very kind and gentle. In... More

The service and overall joie de vivre created by Gary, Danny, Hannah and team was magnificent. My sausage was a huge let down. I can handle, and love a huge sausage, and was looking forward to one. The kitchen supplied me a small one with my mixed grill. I encourage the Strand Management to have a close look at there... More

The Strand, judging by the younger clientele, is a popular backpacker hotel between Kings Cross and the CBD, Sydney. We only had snacks and beverages here on the first morning of our stay wandering towards the city. It was warm so dropped in for a coffee and to ask directions. Stayed for a wine and beers following excellent service and... More

Great pub/restaurant serving quality meals for extremely good prices in Sydney. We ate here 3 evenings in one week and also took part in the trivia/quiz which was good. Despite coming last we enjoyed ourselves and were also given a $10 food and drink voucher!

I am only commenting on the food at the Strand. It was excellent value for money and very tasty. The service was spot on, with Miles the bar manager leading the way, great bit of Aussie banter, he made us feel very welcome, always spoke and always had a smile on his face. I would recommend the Strand to everyone.

Decent average room. Shower area and kitchen seemed dirty at times, place could do with a good deep clean, it does get hoovered daily, Bit if a pain if you need a pan etc as have to find someone in the bar downstairs, staff aren't quick to serve anyone and frankly seem rude on most occasions. Also not much space... More

It seems as if many of the reviews for this hotel start along the lines of "We were staying at the hotel across the street and stopped by to eat..." While the restaurant may be good, that is not a reflection of the quality of the accommodation. I stayed in a six person room, and the room was terrible. There... More

We stayed at the Boulevard across the street and called into the Strand for dinner one night. It was excellent, so good in fact we went 3 nights. Thai food cooked by thai chefs and also european food. All $10.
