This is not a flash hostel but this is reflected in the price. Its a small hostel with basic facitlities but not at all cramped. Its more a cosy feel. Its a 10 min walk from Darling Harbour but feels miles away. Above a pub you could almost mistake it for a village inn.

You can get a private room here for less than $70....clean, simple, ceiling fans, opening windows...perfect for the Australian summer. There's no common area aside from a very small kitchen but this is more of a old world hotel than a hostel and there is a small public bar on the ground floor with seems to be a central hub... More

We didn't spend the night at the Lord Wolseley hotel as we live around the corner and regularly visit this lovely local pub. For our wedding reception we were after a local, low-key, but real Australian experience. It turned out the Lord Wolseley was by all means the right choice for us. The pub management was very helpful in making... More

Lovely stay very comfortable and homely place, only ten min walk to Darling Harbour. Staff very friendly and reasonable prices at the bar downstairs. However kitchen needs a good spring clean, there are ants in the sugar jar and crawling on the bench also cockroaches came running out from grill when using it and seemed to be under the units... This is a hotel with a tiny pub on the ground floor. The rooms are clean and it is incredibly good value for the location. (quiet street but very central). The hotel has just been renovated from the looks of things. I also had some great food that was cheap for sydney standards in the attached restaurant and met some... More

More expensive than the average hostel, but had the worst experience. Arrived and was given the key to our room by the rudest girl who said there was some 'stuff' she was supposed to tell us about the rooms, hotel etc but she couldnt remeber it so to ask other guests. She then didnt know where our room was so... More

When my boyfriend and I arrived, we were barely acknowledged by the staff. I have never met anyone so rude. There was also construction work going on at the time; however, we were flippantly told by the staff that there was "painting" going on outside and that it would be finished in "a few hours". Suffice to say that it... More

Hi, I spoke to your for about twenty minutes from the moment you arrived...You were not ignored by staff. I am sorry if you felt this way. I explained that scaffolding was being erected for the exterior to be painted. That was noisy but it was completed in several hours, (by 3pm). After that there was no drilling, just painting... More

The Lord Wolseley Hotel is a little gem, tucked away just a block from noisy, smelly Harris Street, in a quiet, location, a park at the front door where the patrons spill out onto the footpath in this little old fashioned pub in the heart of Sydney. There are 2 enormous paper bark trees out the front with stag horns... More

Stayed only for one night as we didn't know any better. A bed in a shared accommodation is good enough for us as we were dog tired. The location is quite alright and it was quiet so had a pretty good sleep.

We stayed here for a week and thought it was alright. The place is dated and the facilities needed upgrading (not much of a kitchen) as the bedroom looked really old and shabby. It was comfortable enough and we found it to be quiet. Pretty good location too. Not bad considering we hadn't paid much for our stay. The staff... More
