Stayed here for a couple of nights in a 4 bed dorm. The backpackers is situated on top of a nightclub so if you're unlucky enough to stay here on the weekend (as I was) then you better hope you are a heavy sleeper as the bass will be pounding into the early hours! The beds themselves were reasonably comfortable... More

Filthy - very sub Australian standard, especially for price. Noisy, poor ventilation, I wish I had visited this site before booking. Staff tried hard to be friendly. A central location and has potential to be much better simply by cleaning

We stayed in the plantation backpackers for one night. It was kind of an emergency, so we could handle the horrible conditions for one night, but I'd never stay there again. When we came into the room, there was the bin, dirty by some brown stuff (I don't wanna know what it was!) under the window, which was probably broken.... More

I was recommended this for a cheap overnight stay whilst on a trip to Brisbane. Needless to say that I wish I had chosen to stay at a proper motel further back from the highway. It's noisy, poorly serviced and I even had the indignity of being supplied with 'new' towels which actually had skid marks on them from a... More

We stayed here in late 2012 and we were dissappointed! The website and flyers at other hostels promised free welcome drinks, TV and games room (with Wii and a lot of channels) and kitchen. The drinks were not given since they had stopped with that 2 months earlier and when we said it still said so on their webpage, the... More

The friendly and extremely helpful staff were literally the only blessing that this hideous place offered. Being placed above a night-club, it's lucky I was tired in my ten bed dorm, filled with hostile bad mannered people, when going to bed. The bathrooms were unreal with the typical disgustingness that you avoid no matter what, (pictures soon to come), and... More

Plantation backpackers are the only hostel in the area that don't collect guests from the bus stop. The walk is a good 15 minutes, and uncomfortable with a backpack. We arrived at the reception and thought our luck had changed when we were upgraded from a 10 bed to a 4 bed. We were even more thankful when we realised... More

The staff here were fantastic; they were very friendly and upgraded us to a private room on our second night. They organised a shuttle bus to pick us up from the train station and drove us to the beach the next day and showed us the best surf shops. The facilities are fine, although the kitchen was quite small and... More

We spent one night in Coffs Harbour and as we left it late this was the only hostel left we could book. We arrived around lunch time at the greyhound coach park and I was instructed on the phone that the hostel was just a 2 minute walk from the bus stop. This was a lie as it took a... More

I stayed in the Planto twice before and after my farmstay. It was a brilliant hostel. The manager louie made this place he couldn't do more for you. For starters the 1st time I was there we arrived at 5 in the morning so we had to wake him up to let us in. We were then put into the... More
