Had a wonderful weekend at The Brassey of Canberra for the Dragons Abreast Australia National Convention. Good service, great food and venue with such character. Not your average bland hotel and that is what makes it so enjoyable.

Have stayed here a number of times. First time was in 1984 and whilst the ownership of the hotel has changed since that time, the standard and quality of the hotel has not. It is still a little "old worldly" in style. It does not have a poll, gym or any of the other little niceties that you find in... More

My Family stayed here for a couple of nights around Anzac Day 2013. It is tucked away in Barton and close to Manuka shops. It was built in 1927 and fortunately has been modernised since. It apparently was built for the Government in 1927 for VIP's and senior guests. It is Majestic and Institutional in outward appearance. The rate of... More

I stay here almost monthly, with head office being in Canberra and me not. It's good value and the breakfast hits the spot. I like its 'historic' charm (historic in Canberra terms). If you're after something flashy it probably won't hit the spot, but it's in a good location and is unpretentious.

I really like the Brassey, t has so much character. It's good value for money for Canberra and the location is great for my work. I have stayed there twice in the last 2 months and attending a meeting there 4 months ago. The bedrooms are nice. Some bathrooms could do with modernizing but they've been fine. Bar, restaurant and... More

Woken at 4:00am due to water dripping through ceiling and onto me. Decided to move bed out of the splash zone. As we rolled the bed away from the wall, the heavy wooden bed head fell forward an hit my wife on the head. Inspection revealed the bed head had not been secured to the wall and was just leaning... This hotel has a lot of charm to it. It is old but the decor is still fresh and comfortable. The food is of a very good standard. As always it can be the little things that make a difference. I left my mobile phone charger at home in error. The duty manager went above and beyond to locate the... More

We have stayed often at the Brassey and have always found it to be welcoming and comfortable. The building is heritage listed and the traditional decor adds to the atmosphere. We choose to stay in a Heritage Room because of the extra space it offers. When there is a special event in Canberra the hotel will generally have a special... More

I was delighted with my stay at the Brassey Hotel in Canberra. I loved the heritage feel of the property and my room was great. Admittedly, I had been upgraded to a Heritage Room, but my boss, who had a Garden Room (No, I was not going to offer to swap!) found his room smaller, but still well appointed. The... More

I stayed a week at the Brassey and would happily return. Some might call it dated. I think it's a nicely appointed historical property. You can easily walk to government building and many museums from here. My room was quite large and nicely furnished if a bit dated. The breakfast buffet was quite good. The area is breat for evening... More
