Warm, cosy and charming little hotel tucked away in Canberra with a suburb feel. Overall the hotel has all the basic amenities but don't expect any luxuries. Pros: Rooms are spacious (tv with a few foxtel channels and sport also included, iron, kettle, tea/coffee etc) but definitely has a tired feel to it. Nice warm showers and plenty of tourist... More

My husband and I stayed for one night last week whilst on business in Canberra. This hotel is tucked away in a very quiet spot and we had a large and comfortable room on the third floor. ONE DOWNFALL...When my husband phoned to make our reservation he was told check in would be at 1 p.m. We timed our arrival... More

I've stayed here many times over the years and I live coming back. This place has character and you can sense the history. The stairs creak. The rooms are large and well appointed in keeping with the character and age of the Hotel. This is not the place to stay if you are looking for sleek and modern but if... More

I have stayed at The Brassey many times for business and it probably remains one of my picks to stay when visiting Canberra. Once again I had a good experience staying here. The rooms are comfortable and clean - and quiet. The separate bathroom is a good size. The hot water does take a little while to come through but... More

I've stayed at the Brassey many times over the past 7 or 8 years and it remains my favourite Canberra hotel. Clean, comfortable rooms (pay the extra for a larger room), a pleasant bar and good breakfasts. The restaurant is just ok (and closed on Sundays) but Manuka is an easy walk and has some really great restaurants. I've stayed... More

The history of this hotel has been used well to create a charming hotel in a sometimes cold and modernistic Canberra. Updates have ensured a good standard of fitout and maintenance. My room was spacious and included a double (didn't seem overly large) and single bed. Separate bathroom was also roomy but the electric bar heater was definitely needed in... More

Tucked away in a suburban street in Barton, the Brassey is a 15-minute walk from Parliament House. The hotel is tidy and unfussy but the 1990s panelled wood with brass fittings is looking a little tired. The bathroom has Victorian style tiles and toilet and was let down by mouldy grout in the shower. A few new pictures around the... More

The hotel reminded me of an English country estate. It had old fashioned styling and was very comfortable. The staff were friendly and efficient. If you want modern facilities then this place will disappoint you as most of the bedroom and bathroom appeared old and tired. However, if you like character, then this hotel is perfect. The rooms are overpriced... More

Stayed her two nights on recent business trip. Nice and close to parliamentary Triangle and also Kingston/Manuka shopping and restaurants. An older building renovated with smallish rooms/ensuites. The reception staff could have been friendlier - on a Sunday evening we encountered somebody behind reception who was only to eager to say she was new and could not help us with... More
