Professional, personal service from helpful staff who weren't just uniformed clones. Quiet, convenient location with good local bus service close by. How nice not to be in sterile, steel-and-marble surroundings where you can't hear the birds and nobody says hallo. Generous breakfast included. Good value all round. Look forward to a return visit. more

I spent 4 nights at the Brassey while attending a conference. It took ages to check in and my room was hard to find, had to go back to reception twice before someone showed me and another unrelated guest how to get to our rooms. I found the reception staff to be not that friendly and there were few facilities... more

I stayed here for a week in a Heritage room and it was... reasonable. Normally if you stay somewhere for a week they offer you a discount or a little something extra (eg a bottle of wine in your room) but I didn't even get a smile at reception! The Heritage room was $165 a night and spacious and clean,... more

The Brassey Hotel room was disappointing, small and without central heating. They provided a noisy fan heater but... On the plus side, the staff were friendly and the restaurant dinner and breakfast were good. The position makes it difficult to walk anywhere, so a car is essential especially in a Canberra winter. more

My experience with this hotel started over the phone. Owing to my flight times, I was going to be arriving in Canberra early in the morning and so I rang the Brassey a few days in advance to see if there was any chance of an early check-in. The receptionist was in desperate need of some customer service training. A... more

Check in was quick, staff is not overly friendly. Room was nice, could not get the heat to work, and when I complained I was told I could have a electric floor heater, which I declined. The stand alone closet, had a dirty hat and much dust on the top of it. This could not be seen, but when I... more

Terrible service. This is a nice hotel. Dont get me wrong there, but they lacked a lot of customer service the night I stayed there. I arrived mid afternoon, was given a swipe card for my room and went of to put my bags in. When I got to the room my card key would not work. I tried it... more

My wife & I stayed at the Brassey for a Saturday night to see the AFL at Manuka Oval. This was the second time we had stayed at the Brassey. The chocolates in the room recognising our second stay was a nice touch. We stayed in a Heritage room which had a queen sized bad as well as a single.... more

My niece and I stayed at the Brassey for 2 days we were sightseeing in Canberra and discovered that you really need a car - however the Brassey was a great place to stay- nice location - a leisurely 20 minute walk from Old & New Parliament House and the National Library. We had an excellent standard room and the... more

I stayed at the Brassey of Canberra on a business trip and had a pleasant stay. The hotel had an old fashioned charm and the room was decorated nicely and comfortable, though not overly spacious. Upon arriving at the Brassey, I was pleasantly surprised to have been upgraded to a heritage room for no charge. The reception staff was friendly... more
