4 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

Spent two nights in the Rex, in an older King room with breakfast included. Good value. Room was one of the older ones, but clean and everything worked. Buffet all you can eat breakfast was excellent with many choices of hot foods, toast, cereals, fruits and tea and coffee. Currently the hotel has many rooms being renovated, but we didn't... More

We stayed in one of the older rooms that needed renovation. Yes it was a bit tired with fittings needing a bit of TLC but I guess when you are about to do a reno on a room you don't want to drop unnecessary money on it. Two power points in our room (112 if management are looking at this)... More

The Canberra Rex hotel is located on a main Canberra road, not far from Canberra's attractions. It is undergoing active refurbishment at the moment. My stay here was comfortable. The service was friendly. Pros My room had: - plenty of storage areas - a writing desk and lamp - a small bar fridge - tea and coffee making facilities -... More

I stayed in a twin room with a friend. The room was fine although the bathroom smelled a bit damp. At $113 a night for 2 with full breakfast its pretty good value but you get what you pay for. It's aold and tired. Slept well though. Staff are lovely and work hard.

stayed here again, nicely appointed rooms and good spot to be... not too far from town but just far enough away. the renovations in some of the rooms is still underway, so will be nice once completed. overall happy with the location and can't be beaten for the price. just make sure you get in early to get a car... I have fond memories of the Rex Hotel from the mid to late 90s. Back then, when I was much younger, I rarely stayed in hotels, so it was something of a treat. Now though, 18 years later, the rooms look almost exactly the same as they did then, but more frayed around the edge, more 'tired'. I am aware... More

We stayed in an unrenovated room on the 1st floor. The corridor leading to our room was very dated with archways & glass bricks and a hospital smell, so we were apprehensive when we got to the door. Inside however the room was very pleasant and modernly furnished. Unfortunately the bathroom decor is decades old, the shower at shoulder height... More

The Rex is strategically undergoing renovations but look to me to be doing this ncarefully so as to minimise impact on clients. I had the opportunity to experience one of the new Executive Studio rooms. They are very pleasant indeed. Being a studio it is not spacious but the use of the space is extremely well done. Comfort summarises the... More

We have stayed at The Rex on a number of occasions over the past eight years. It has always been clean, convenient and quite comfortable. The hotel has been undergoing an internal upgrade. We stayed there in January, 2015, and were given one of the renovated rooms. The bathroom was excellent, as were the pillows and mattress. The room was... More
