We were pleasantly surprised with the quality of service and the overall appearance of the massive refurbishments and renovations that are underway. Not wanting to spend too much on a 1 night stay we thought it was really good value for money. Our room was yet to be renovated, but it was clean, comfortable & quiet. The complimentary buffet breakfast... More

We stayed in the new Rex Apartments. The 2 bedroom apartment were as new. The complex has an indoor heated pool which was great for the kids. If you can afford the extra money an apartment would be much better than the adjoining older Rex hotel that is in need of a much needed renovation. Under cover parking a bonus... More

There was other cheaper hotels available but considered this one from pictures and average price. Extremely dissapointed with the room. Cheap bathroom, water temp varied whilst turned on, terrible TV. Renovations taking place from 8am 4 rooms down. Breakfast buffet average.

Let's see: booked a twin room but got a double, to the consternation of my 9yo son. Desk clerk apologetic but unable to do anything about it. Corridors bare and smelly, noise rooms. Saggy bed. Breakfast reasonable.

Staying right now. Wasn't informed that the hotel is currently being renovated. Still paying top dollar though. We ventilated the room to remove the paint smell, and cleaned the clogged filters on the air conditioner to try and get the heat pump to work. After an hour still only 16○C in the room. Bed is comfortable however. These hotels should... More

Hello Ralph, Thank you for your feedback and please accept our apologies for the inconvenience of not providing you with a twin room arrangement. It appears that the booking process requested was misunderstood and it was missed by our team, which is no excuse. Normally we could have addressed that on check in however the holiday period and market forces... More

Another great couple of days in Canberra made all the more pleasant by staying at the Canberra Rex Hotel. Before we go any further – a disclaimer. We love the Rex and have really not found better value for money in Canberra. We stayed two nights. Checked in about 4pm and that was very smooth. Friendly and efficient as always... More

On The outside the Hotel looks inviting and the staff are friendly - after booking in the disappointment starts, one elevator broken the other refuses to stop on my floor. Once we get to the room it was a step back to the 60s in décor and poorly maintained décor at that. The old fashioned TV only had 2 colours... More

Dear Trevor P, Thank you for your feedback, much appreciated and yes we are in the midst of refurbishing our nostalgic rooms which are older in style but are priced accordingly. The renovation has its challenges as it can impact on perceptions. However we have a number of new rooms completed which may be more appealing and which may be... More

I stayed in the newly constructed Rex Apartments for 3 nights. It is a brand new building, with excellent in-room free wifi, and all other facilities of an apartment (dining table, kitchen, washing machine, walk in robe). There is also a nice indoor pool and gym which looked very modern. The breakfast is good and reception service is efficient and... More

Staff were quite freindly, the restaurant was nice, however parking was very difficult, our room was a king room near the elevator shaft and was quite noisy due to the elevator squeaking, the shower had no hob and the water came out everywhere, the curtains didn't cover the windows properly so excesive light came into the room

Yes it's dated but the Rex is undergoing a facelift as befits a hotel of her age and history. Staff were, for the most part, very helpful and very cheery; breakfast was generous; wifi free; and the hotel pool delightful and underused. The walls of this hotel are rather thin - not sure of that's being addressed in the refurbish.... More
