Have stayed this hotel twice. Its average. Clean, close to all amenities, car parking etc but there are alot of other choices in Canberra that would be preference. You get what you pay for. They are doing this old Hotel up and it will be good once completed. If staying here, make sure you get a refurbished room. It is... more

Don't beleive the pics on line!!! After booking on an online booking site, it was like arriving at Fawlty Towers. The lobby is out of the 80,s with loads of glass & mirrors, and the twin room we'd booked was miles down a gloomy hallway with mirrored ceilings had a huge king bed (two singles pushed together) and a rollaway... more

The ignorance of this hotel was amazing. We had checked in and paid, went to our room which was a hike up a long hall, to our dissapointment we had a tiny room for what we paid for. The room was average at best, the carpet hadn't been vacumed and the bathroom had a musky smell about it & there... more

The REX is a stale, tired, abysmal, depressing and rather weird ‘joint’. It’s not situated in a good area either with some of the local undesirables strolling through the car park. (I met one of them ‘admiring’ my car when I came back out to pick up my luggage after booking in). The hallways are like an underground bunker. When... more

Stayed at the Rex for only one night and found it rather indifferent. You can't book directly from their website - technical issues I was told by the receptionist. Booked through one of the last minute websites. Their pricing structure is quite confusing, you pay $40.00 more if you want a twin room even though I was travelling with an... more

stayed in a twin room. the room was old, but still alright (clean tidy etc). shower took a while (1-2min) to heat up. toilet was a bit hard to flush (button needed a really hard push). they're in the process of doing some reservations so you may get some slight morning noise when garden/construction work begins. what did make up... more

Booked one night at the Rex as a stopover on way back to Syd from the snow, and as soon as we arrived we noticed problems... First, the wotif description said "renovated" rooms - the rooms are faarrr from it. I've heard the hotel is being very, very slowly renovated, and until it has been completed, I wouldn't recommend staying... more

This hotel was a little bit older than some might like but the service was impeccable. We were greeted by very polite and respectful staff who then advised us on the best places to eat etc with maps. The concierge was most obliging. The room itself was spacious enough and had all the amenities you would need without being posh. more

I read the reviews couple of days after I booked Rex online and was a bit worried about the accommodation I booked. But I was very pleasantly surprised. The room was renovated, simple but spacious (king room). The staff was absolutely fantastic. Very helpful and friendly. Dinner at Millie's Restaurant was delicious, staff friendly and very pleasant. The hotel is... more

First i gotta say - the breakfast was terrific and the selection of foods very good - and reasonably priced, especially if you take advantage of the early bird and pay the night before. FULL MARKS for that , however ,WOULD NOT STAY THERE AGAIN, DISAPPOINTING is how i would describe the REX !!!!! Their website ad says newly painted... more
