Well located rneovated hostel. Prented well with large rooms. Clean and tidy. Breakfast was simple but adeqaute. Would have rated the hostel a 3 but unfortunately the heating unit in the room sounded like a jet engine. Had the choose of stay awake all night or sleep but freeze.

We lived in Canberra for 20 years and the Hotel Kurrajong is only a couple of blocks from where we used to live so we stayed there mainly for the familiarity of the area. At $99 for a King Room it was great value for money. The room was large and well equipped and very quiet. Parking was easy and... More

The Kurrajong Hotel in Canberra is an excellent place to stay in Canberra. It has a real old world fell to it with the foyer and rooms decorated as they would have been in the 1930's. The service was excellent and the rooms large. The hotel was also very good value for money. Te best part about the hotel is... More

Stayed there for 2 nights while in Canberra for a conference. Found the hotel via Wotif, as part of the Australian International Hotel School. Not sure how the AIHS is actually related with Hotel Kurrajong, as all e-mail correspondence was via Hotel Kurrajong. Booked "budget room" at $99/night. Was worried it would be bad at that low price in the... More

I agree completely with previous reviews. Character, historical significance, great location, plenty of excellent restaurants closeby (strongly recommended the "Ottoman" 300 metres away), and comfortable clean rooms with everything you expect in them (e.g toilettries, iron/board, coffee/tea facilities, mini bar, free internet, etc). Hotel unfortunately disappoints in a few significant ways:- 1. a security deposit is explained very poorly and... More

These rooms appear on hotel search engines as Australian International Hotel School but are actually budget rooms in the rear section of the more expensive historic Hotel Kurrajong. I was pleasantly surprised at what I got for my $77 per night for a single ensuite (this is the rate for 3 nights or more. rooms with shared bathrooms are even... More

This hotel has character and interesting history. It is conveniently located for the National Gallery and close to Manuka shopping area for many good restaurants. The room with a balcony was pleasant but the air conditioning definitely needed updating. Wifi was free and easy to access. However, the $100 security deposit is still held by the bank ..now 5 days... More

The Kurrajong is the poor cousin of the equally historic Hotel Canberra. The Canberra is much more expensive and has been lavishly restored, while the Kurrajong has languished and looks and feels neglected. When I checked in a passerby was surprised, saying "oh I thought this place had closed down". Well not quite but it's well on the way. The... More

Booked a budget room for two nights here, not knowing quite what to expect, mainly for the hotel's proximity to the National Gallery, as the main purpose of my visit was to see the Toulouse-Lautrec exhibition. Pleasantly surprised. It is rare to find good budget accommodation in Canberra that is close to the main attractions. This is an exception. Comfortable... More
