I recently stayed at "Capital Towers" for 3 nights late last month. Location was great, views were awesome but the rooms were dated and furnishings old and tired. The best find I had near the hotel were funky little cafes and a sensational day spa called Soma Day Spa. I had one of the best massages there I think I... More

The first thing you need to know about this place as it's commonly known as Capital Tower and not Breakfree. The taxi driver had no idea about Breakfree, but knew Capital Tower when I mentioned it. There's not prominent Breakfree signage at all. I stayed here for a conference in March, and had a great apartment with a fantastic view... More

I'm lying in bed looking out the window at the early morning sunshine on the lake, the sky is blue there are a couple of yachts sailing across the still water and a little earlier four hotwire balloons went floating past the balcony. The view is superlative, the staff are friendly and helpful, it's close to the restaurants and cafes... More

We have stayed here several times because of it's central, quiet location and ease of getting into (and out of) the underground carpark. Lakeside rooms have breathtaking views of lake Burley Griffin and Parliament house from both inside the apartment and outside on the large balconies. City side apartments have OK views, but do not have the large balconies. Civic,... More

SUperficially okay - large two bedroom apartment, clean apart from bath which was stained and scratched. However: (1) my apartment only offered the 5 analogue TV stations - I reckon it is reasonable to expect at least all of the free-to-air stations in a capital city!! (2) shower arm was attached so low on the wall over bath that to... More

We stayed 4 nights at the Capital Tower Canberra in a 2 bedroom apartment (we were upgraded from 1 bedroom!) on the 2nd floor. The decor is a little tired however we found it clean and comfortable. The rooms were cleaned every day, beds made, bins emptied, etc. The heated pool was welcome after the humid weather and there is... More

Recently spent 3 nights at this hotel. The purpose of the trip was to visit the War Memorial and the AIS. Whilst the staff were very friendly, the rooms are in need of a good sproose up. They were clean but tired - broken toilet, broken electrical appliance plates etc. The hotel we thought was situated in a relatively good... More

We stayed here for one night in a 3 bedroom apartment with lake views, the room faced west so had the hot afternoon sun and the airconditioner did not work. The apartment was clean but stripped bare of all paintings, and seemed half furnished. My daughter left an expensive triathlon suit there which they claimed to of mailed to us... More

As a retired airline pilot I have stayed in hundreds of rooms in the past 45 years. The maintenance condition of this apartment was one of the worst I have seen. In the en-suite bathroom, the towel rail fixture to the wall was broken, as was the soap dish and the shower height-adjustment bar. The towel rail in the main... More

We haven't been to Canberra for a while and thought that it would be lovely to have a couple of days there. We found this and was very good value for such a large apartment. The apartment was spacious and very clean with a beautiful view over the capital. There was a modern flat screen television with a great variety... More
