Fantastic service from all staff from housekeeping to reception to restaurants. Exciting new renovations currently happening. Can't wait to see the new refurb of the ground floor dining room and reception. Can't beat the atmosphere of the Cahoots bar with its historical photographs of Australian politicians - great to see this will not change. more

I had a total of 14 hours in Canberra including the drive to and from the airport and had to give a 2.5hr presentation in the middle of all that. My quick and professional reception, my SUPER FAST room service meal and happy staff interactions really made the difference for me. The hotel might be a little worn around the... more

We chose the Rydges Lakeside for a few reasons. 1. Location: 2.The pool: Having been traveling around a bit we thought it would be nice to have a pool. 3.Service: 3. Value: The Rydges offered a nice room with fabulous views.bed was very comfortable. The entertainment system was very hi tech, but the TV kept turning itself on. Biggest Plus... more

Stayed here for a week for work. Usually stay closer to Parl House but wanted somewhere with a bath - this actually had a spa, which I didn't want but got anyway, for under $200pn. Room was nice and warm in the middle of winter, with a decent view from the 13th floor. I was very happy with it. I... more

Hello Beresford_Bear, Thank you for leaving your comments on Trip Advisor, I was disappointed to read you felt we were understaffed. Both our Restaurant and Reception area are currently undergoing a full refurbishment and will hopefully be launched late November. We hope you will return to see the change. Shannon Craig

We got a good deal for Rydges Lakeside. Fortunately, as I don't think that it would be worth the full rate. It is an old hotel, which seems be having much needed renovations at the moment (one of the restaurants and the pool were not in use). The air conditioning in our room was working, but only just - it... more

We chose this hotel as we had a Rydges gift card, purchased with about to expire frequent flyer points. If we had forked out the $244 from our own pockets I would have been most upset. We arrived at about 4pm to find our room wasn't ready, so we sat and waited.... Finally we headed up, dodging cleaning carts, to... more

Sep 4, 2009 | Trip type: Family

We have stayed at Rydges Lakeside several times before in one of there suites (1020 I think). This is two rooms connected by a double door and spacious entrance that can fit a foldaway bed. It suites a family because the kids can trash one room while mom and dad can occupy the other. The location is great, good views... more

Chose this hotel since my partner is a Rydges member and it was the middle-priced option out of the 3 Canberra Rydges. Stayed 2 nights in a standard room with no issues, the room was quite large with a balcony overlooking a large carpark (there's the option of paying more for a lake view). The bathroom could do with a... more

I stayed there for 2 nights, whilst attending a conference at the hotel. The rooms are clean and tidy, with a good view of the city. The breakfast in the restaurant was good as were the meals served during the conference. The hotel is looking a little tired and probably in need of refurbishment, but it is still very comfortable.... more
