This was our second visit to Varlet Farm, and once again were not disappointed.Twelve of us stayed for four nights and had an excellent stay. The accommodation was comfortable and very clean, the communal areas were great to enjoy a beer or two from the well stocked fridge .The book shelves were full of literature about the history of the area ie: WW1... We stayed with Kirk,Barbara and the family in this wonderful B&B in early August. The accommodation is clean and practical. The breakfast is a feast and food can be taken away for your lunch, a cool-box is even supplied. The Farm house is situated north of Ypres on the WW1 battlefields. The visitors have access to the extensive library situated... More

Had heard good things about Varlet Farm so were looking forward to our stay. We were not disappointed. The rooms were very spacious and well furnished. Fabulous bathroom. Dirk greeted us with teas & coffee together with freshly made apple cake which was delicious. The communal areas are large and well equipped - beers and wine at very good prices.... More

Stopped here for a pre-booked lunchtime meal on a coach tour. Thirty five of us were treated to an excellent spread of assorted breads, cheese and hams and our plates and cups of tea/coffee were replenished as quickly as we could eat and drink. Service was both fast and friendly in very nice surroundings.

We stayed in the accommodation at Varlet Farm for three nights as part of a group of 17 visiting some WW1 sites. We were not always keen to choose B&B's over hotels but if you have similar concerns dont, this place is better than some far more expensive hotels we have stayed at! The owners are welcoming, relaxed and informative,... More

This is not a sophisticated place, but it is extremely welcoming and has all that you need. You are greeted with tea and home-made apple pie, breakfasts are generous and you are invited to make a packed lunch from the ample left-overs. Rooms are comfortable, clean and spacious and have free wi-fi. A well-stocked fridge of beer at very reasonable... More

Stayed at Varlet with mates on a motorcycle tour after visiting the year before. Dirk and Varlet don't disappoint, nice clean rooms, fantastic host and great value. Always there to help if you need anything. Lovely breakfast and superb bike storage. Thanks Dirk and your family for the usual pleasant stay. The Belgians are fantastic people.

First impressions are important, and this one was accompanied with complimentary apple pie and coffee. Dirk and his family are genuinely interested in helping visitors to explore the region, and will loan guests maps if they don't have their own. The breakfasts were amazing, and we were positively encouraged to make up lunches from what was available, at no extra... More

Chose this for a venue near to Ypres for a friend and myself having a motorbiking trip to the Flanders area visiting battlefields and other WW1 sites . The accommodation is excellent - clean well appointed and with coffee/tea making facilities , an extensive library of WWI books , a well stocked fridge ( beers and wine which you paid... More
