Varlet Farm is just perfect in every respect for a visit to the World War I Battlefields in the Ypres area. The rooms are excellent and the breakfast great to set you up for the day. There is an established arrangement to build a packed lunch from the breakfast which allows for a fully effective day touring the various sites... More

Another great visit to Varlet farm. At the end of a motorcycle tour round europe we stayed two nights to visit Ypres and the surrounding area. There were four of us, the other three had not been before but all were 'wowed' by the location, accommodation and of course the breakfast at Varlet Farm. We did find that the taxi... More

This was our first visit to Varlet Farm and once we had found it what a warm welcome we received. We had no sooner entered when Barbara welcomed us with smile and the offer of a Cup of Tea or Coffee and a slice of her excellent Apple Pie. Our rooms were clean and spacious (one Twin and one Triple)... More

Excellent value bed and breakfast accommodation. Dirk and Barbara, the owners, are full of useful information. The barn is worth spending time in as it contains numerous items, shells etc, found in the farmland after WW1. If you are limited for time follow the itinerary supplied by Dirk of local points of interest.

We were part of a party of 16 that stayed for a long weekend. We received a very warm welcome. Excellent, comfortable accommodation. Lovely spread for breakfast and they expected you to use food from the breakfast table to pack up a picnic lunch. Keith and Wendy

We stayed there a while ago and it was amazing. The country side is amazing, and the Farm is wonderful. We would have stayed for longer but could only get one night in. The little 'museum' on the farm has some interesting things found locally with some good information to read. Good food, good location, awesome hosts with heaps of... More

Really enjoyed our stay again with Dirk as a charming and knowledgeable host. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with superb breakfast and comfortable room. Proximity to Belgium WW1 sites and overall experience makes this an ideal place to stay.
