Really enjoyed our stay again with Dirk as a charming and knowledgeable host. A relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with superb breakfast and comfortable room. Proximity to Belgium WW1 sites and overall experience makes this an ideal place to stay.

Have stayed there 5 times now and can't wait to go back out later this year. Also found a picture of my great great uncle on the wall in the breakfast room. Dirk and Barbara are very welcoming and always on hand.

Varlet Farm is a wonderful location to stay when touring the WW1 battlefields. Barbara and her father run a magnificent B&B. their breakfast is second to none and they allow you to pack a lunch. The honour beer fridge and the lounge make for an enjoyable evening talking to other guests. The rooms are large with comfortable beds. You are... More

Have just returned for our third visit. This time in a quiet and very cold February, we were the only 4 people staying, so had the place to ourselves. Dirk and Barbara as warm and welcoming as always, as was the delicious homemade apple pie on arrival. We made good use of the honesty bar and the plentiful tea, coffee... More

just back from another weekend at Varlet Farm, this was our 10th visit. Still as good as the first. Great place to stay, excellent breakfast & good location for visiting key sites. Was there for the christmas markets in Ypres & Bruges with friends who were first timers, great fun, lots of good food & Gluhwein. Made full use of... More

My husband and I stayed at Varlet Farm for 5 nights in late October 2014 to follow my grandfathers WW1 footsteps and the sites where they were injured. We could not have chosen a better or more appropriate site.......right on the Passendale battlefield. Dirk and Barbara were the most wonderful hosts, full of information when asked and just so kind... More

I travelled with two friends to Ypres and we will all recommend Varlet Farm to our friends. The welcome was so friendly and welcoming. As previous guests have stated the breakfast was great and then we could make our own packed lunches at no extra cost (where would you get that nowaday's). We stayed in the owners home where they... Finding words to describe Varlet Farm is very difficult, excellent just doesn't do it justice. What a warm welcome we all received when we arrived - fresh tea and coffee together with a slice of delicious home-made apple pie. Nothing was too much trouble - breakfast beyond belief, eggs ,cheese, ham, yoghurt together with home-made bread and home-made jam not... More

We only had time to stay one night last week but, we will be back. We found the place after a recommendation from a friend. The atmosphere was warm and our hosts were very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was a great way to start the day of touring around this historic area.
