This working farm is situated in the heart of the Flanders battlefields. The British used it during the war and gave it its name. The owner is a kind and friendly man whose family has lived there since 1920. He has limitless information about the region and a museum in the garage featuring rifles, gas masks, shells and other remnants... More

We had a great welcome from our host with a wonderful apple pie, even although our flight was delayed and it was nearly midnight. The rooms were well very appointed with every facility. Great service all round. The situation of the farm was ideal for our visit to the WW1 battlefields, cemeteries and museums. I would definitely choose Varlet Farm... More

We came here with some Canadian friends, who wanted to "do" the battlefields and war cemeteries. We couldn't have found anywhere better, From the moment we arrived, and were presented with the wonderful Apple Pie (Home made), to the breakfast, the helpful information and being told to Pack Ourselves up for the day, to the moment we left, this was... From the moment one arrives, you are surrounded by history. The farm itself is in the centre of a former battlefield. In fact a visit to the farm barn is a must, to see the collection of material harvested from the local fields, shell fragments, weapon parts, tools, helmets, and the general hardware of war are well displayed. The rooms... More

Varlet Farm, is, without a doubt, the best place I have stayed in when visiting Ypres. Everything about the place, from the cup of tea and piece of cake on arrival, to the well stocked beer fridge and the most incredible breakfast spread is simply top quality. It is well placed for all of the 'must see' sights and isn't... More

We were directed to this accommodation as the site we booked initially was over booked, but we discovered a true gem. The owners were most delightful and truly made us very welcome, even though we arrived a day early and ended up spending 4 nights there. The farm is actually in Passendale right in the middle of Flanders Fields, and... More

Varlet Farm is just perfect in every respect for a visit to the World War I Battlefields in the Ypres area. The rooms are excellent and the breakfast great to set you up for the day. There is an established arrangement to build a packed lunch from the breakfast which allows for a fully effective day touring the various sites... More

Another great visit to Varlet farm. At the end of a motorcycle tour round europe we stayed two nights to visit Ypres and the surrounding area. There were four of us, the other three had not been before but all were 'wowed' by the location, accommodation and of course the breakfast at Varlet Farm. We did find that the taxi... More

This was our first visit to Varlet Farm and once we had found it what a warm welcome we received. We had no sooner entered when Barbara welcomed us with smile and the offer of a Cup of Tea or Coffee and a slice of her excellent Apple Pie. Our rooms were clean and spacious (one Twin and one Triple)... More
