Just returned home after touring battlefields in Passchendaele & Ypres and then onto the Normandy beaches. We enjoyed two nights staying at Varlet Farm and on arrival was greeted with a very welcome cup of tea and slice of delicious apple cake. Our rooms were comfortable and very clean, complimentary tea & coffee provided (also beer, wine & soft drinks... More

This excellent b&b is actually on a farm that was in no mans land during the Third Battle of Ypres Passchendaele. The owner, Dirk, is a very friendly host, who greets you with a cup of tea and a slice of cake. He will supply you with information on the many WW1 sites in the area. The b&b is in... More

We arrived on our motorbikes at Varlet Farm, tired, hot and battle weary to be greeted so warmly by Barbara and Dirk and wonderful tea and apple cake! The farm is lovely, secluded, quiet and a special place for reflection. Our room was perfect, especially the poopy linen. Such a comfortable bed and lots of home comforts. Breakfast was brilliant,... We stayed here on June 10,2014 after a long drive from Paris where we were vacationing for 2 weeks. Barbara welcomed us with fresh warm apple pie (Belgian style). Because we arrived late she had it placed in our room. The area was quiet and off every beaten path - exactly what I imagined for a farm stay in Belgium.... More

We were a large family group 18 members aged from 8years to 75 years. We found Varlets Farm to be warm and friendly. With comfortable beds, spacious rooms, lounge areas well equipped with books, games and research facilities. They also have a small museum with interesting WW1 artefacts. Barbara and Dirk were very welcoming, providing delicious breakfasts with the facilities... More

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying here for five nights on a tour of War Cemeteries in Belgium. Most people have written in high regard of the establishment and in no way do I disagree with a word written. However I would add that on our return towards Dunkirk for our ferry we found ourselves without a... More

A group of 9 of us travelled by bike to Varlet Farm and then stayed for 2 nights while we toured the battlefields. The farm is in an excellent location and the owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful, taxis and restaurant bookings, advice on local sights etc. All rooms were comfortable and clean and breakfasts were very... We have used Valet Farm on many occasions and the excellent standards and welcoming hospitality has never changed. It is a brilliant base for visiting the Flanders Battlefields and unique in the fact it was captured by the Royal Navy (Royal Naval Division) during the Third Battle of Ypres.1917.

I brought a school group here for a tour of the battlefields in Flanders. The owners were very helpful in accommodating a group of boys who had comfortable rooms, access to bicycles and Great War artefacts, and nourishing breakfasts. They were also encouraged to take food along for the day. We really could not have asked for a better, more... More
