We ended up here as it was the first place after the ferry that had a vacancy. 90 steap steps to get to the room (top floor) is hard with luggage. As all places in Loutro the view from the terrace is fantastic. The room was ok, but plates and cups etc. were scarce. Light bulbs missing most places. Not... More

The view from the balcony is stunning. The rooms are rather small, the bathrooms (we had 3 rooms altogether) not so clean and a bit shabby. 1 room had a small fridge with a scarylooking power connection. The toilet paper is put into a bin in the local fashion and it is no problem for us - but this was... More

We had a week here in early September. The room was simple, but comfortable and we enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed - kettle, hair drier, fridge, comfortable bed. There are great views from the balcony. We stayed on the fourth floor, which does involve quite a few steps (73) but the views make it worth it. I... More

This is a typical room, with nothing much to offer. It was not so clean, especially in the bathroom. Stayed there for two nights and nobody cleaned the room (or made the sheets or closed the balcony door) during our stay! Don't know if you can get much better rooms in Loutro though, as they all seemed more or less... More

We didn't check tripadviser this time before we booked. Maybe (for this one time) a good thing. Because we loved this place! I think it had a make over. New bed and furniture. We were on the third floor with a huge (shared) balcony....what a view! The bathroom was also new. No showercurtain, but we didn't see that in any... More

I cannot tell for sure if the room that we were given was so bad, compared to others, but we were advised to stay at Madares as a "value for money" place. However, the rooms in Madares cost 45 euros per night, while the facilities worth less than 30 euros. The good thing was that the bed was big and... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Madares and though the room was clean, it lacked in many ways. Forget about having wi-fi in your room, you can only have a decent connection form the restaurant. We had no shower curtain, and the "vent" in the bathroom was a hole in the wall... to the corridor. We also asked for an... More

The last time we stayed at Madares, was 23 years ago and was known as Nikos' Rooms. Now it is Madares Hotel, but not a lot had changed. The advertised 'kitchenette' appeared to amount to a tray with one plate, one saucer, one knife (dirty) and two spoons. There was a kettle with a very short lead, so we had... More

Loutro is breathtakingly beautiful, clear sparkling water, blue and white traditional hotels and buildings and an exceptional warm Cretan welcomes you in every taverna or hotel in this tiny resort. Madares hotel is no exception to this, rooms are clean, a good size , although we booked a one bed room apartment, it actually was a studio layout with the... More

They have a hotel at one of the most beautiful places in Greece. And instead of trying to offer a consistent experience wit the place, they offered us a room that was not as clean as it should be, with 2 broken plastic chairs and a broken sun-umbrella on the (really nice) balcony. The kitchennette's equipment was full of rust.... More
